Hey Jhs,

ESCP is a great school and is pretty competetive as well, with its average GMAT around 680.
I can break your profile into the following elements

1) Work experience is a plus, may it be internships or a full-time job. If you have worked for big companies the brand name helps, if not then make that you stress on the job you did and play up the responsibilities you had and the imapact you made.

2) Well a high GMAT score is essential. Your score of 690 is good, but supplement it with some extracircular activities.

3) The academics play an important role, a high CGPA shows that you are a consistent performer. As you have a decent CGPA of 8.0 it should not be a problem.

5) Extra curricular activities is something that business schools are really interested in. They love people who are different and have done something which makes them stand out from the crowd. It may be related to sports(Captain of the college tennis team), school associations ( president of some XYZ association), an interesting hobby( completed a course in handwriting analysis), Volunteering work etc.

Your passion for Music can be a good differentiating point.(Diploma in Tabla) further schools love social volunteering experience, and this can be highlighted as well.

On the weakness side,
The IT profile you have is very generic and hence you would need to work hard to differentiate yourself.
Being an Indian you belong to a very competetive pool of applicants, so again good essays and high GMAT are imperative.

So overall i beleive you should have a strong chance at ESCP, just make sure you submit your application by the early rounds, or else the competition may get too tough.

Hope this helps.

Hello

I will be a BSc. Economics graduate in next few months. My GPA as of last semester is 3.2 on 4 ( top 15 % of class) and 2 internship experiences. The first was with ValueNotes, where i had to make cold calls and take and set appointments and Second one was with teach for india, helping them study their market potential in Pune ditrict
My extracurriculars are decent. Am a part of my college debate and football team, and have won in several intercollege fests. along with 8 months volunteer at Connecting, which is a suicide prevention NGO, as a telephonic counselor. I have 3 certificate CIMA, CSR and Six Sigma

My GMAT score is 630, planning to appear for it again

What should be my next step?

What should I do to get a sure shot at top French Schools?

Hey Roshini,

From the info you gave me your CGPA seems good enough.
Work ex is a bit on the Okish side, if you had any strong responsibilities and were able to create a solid impact focus on highlighting that.
If possible try to get some big brands on your CV, that would help.
Teach for India is a good company though, and will give you some points as it will be counted as social experience as well.

Extracurriculars always help, can be used to highlight a slew of transferable skills in your essays.
The connecting experience can be a good differentiating factor.

Coming to schools now, well 630 is a pretty average school, so it limits your chances in the top 3 HEC, ESCP, ESSEC (You will need a 690+ score to get into them)

But if you want to go for the next best schools such as EDHEC, Grenoble , Emlyon 630 is good enough and you will have a strong shot.
Just work on your applications and make sure the schools see the value you will bring to them.

Hope this helped.

Hi

I am currently pursuing a dual degree in BE manufacturing and MSc Biology at BITS Pilani, India. I plan to apply for MiM in Europe. I'm looking for low tuition courses mostly. So my target schools include Vlerick Business School (Belgium), Antwerp Management School (Belgium), Kozminski University(Poland) and Maastricht University (Netherlands). I'm not targeting any of the top schools as their fees is considerably higher. Do you think I'm making a mistake here? I plan to work in Europe for 3-4 years after the degree and eventually work in India. So is it a wise choice to target local top schools?

It'd really help if you could evaluate my profile. I am yet to take GMAT but I am confident about scoring my target.

So, here's my profile.

GMAT ~ 700-720
CGPA at the time of application ~ 6.1-6.2/10
Experience working at a startup for about 8 months.
A learning internship in Marketing Management.
A content writing internship for 2 months.
I'll be doing one more internship before applying.
Beginning German course with a Satisfactory Grade (Out of satisfactory and unsatisfactory)
Courses in Finance like Fundamentals of Financial Accounting; Derivatives and Risk Management; Securities and Portfolio Management.

If it matters -
10th Std- 10 CGPA
12th Std- 90%

What are my chances? I know my academics are lacking. Anything constructive towards a better profile? Also what are my chances if I apply to ESCP or Esade?

Also, do I need to take IELTS if my college gives me a transcript stating that all courses were conducted in English? The college admissions do accept the transcript and hence no need for IELTS. But I read in some forums that IELTS is still required for VISA. Any leads would be really helpful!

Thanks!

I'd really appreciate your help

Hey Yash,

So overall you have a fairly impressive profile. Here are a few pointers about the same -

You come from a nationally renowned university, so that will add on to your application.
A GMAT score of 700-720 fits well within the median GMAT scores of many top colleges.
You have a comparatively low CGPA ; but you can compensate for it by highlighting your other profile strengths. Essay are a great way for doing this, so make sure that you spend enough time perfecting them. Your GMAT will also help with the same.

As far as your work experience is concerned, your internship and start-up experience are valuable assets to your application.
However, the adcoms are interested in impact rather than just participation.
So make sure that you exemplify your learnings and your interest in marketing through your Work experience.
You can even check out a few MOOCs pertaining to your career interests, as they will show-case Self-initiative.

Also your SSC and HSC score do not hold much relevance outside India, so you can skip them.

As you have done your education in India, your transcripts would be proof of your English language proficiency, so you do not need to take IELTS.
Some schools such as LSE, do require an IELTS though.

As far as your target schools are concerned, none of them are well renowned, and are in relatively small countries, hence they would give you limited carreer growth opportunities.
With your profile, you have a fair shot at some of the top B-Schools like ESCP, RSM, LBS, EDHEC and ESSEC.
If financial aid is a concern for you, with a good application and score, you will have a fair shot at a scholarship.

Plus apprentisage is also a good option in French schools, to support yourself.

So i would suggest a careful revaluation of schools, as well as an analysis of what exactly you are looking to do in the short term.

Hi,

I would like to know my chance to get in a MiM program, i'm aiming for the best possible school.
I just graduated cum laude from a joint bachelor's degree in Economics and Law, at the Toulouse School of Economics and University Toulouse 1 Capitole. At the time of my application, I will be pursuing a dual master's degree (first year of Master's degree, "M1" ) in Economics and Business Law, at TSE and University Toulouse 1 Capitole.
In France grades are out of 20, and my CGPA during my bachelor's degree was 13.725/20, ranked 6 out of 42 in the double degree.
Member of the junior enterprise at TSE.
English C2, TOEIC 990/990 (I plan on taking the TOEFL/IELTS as there are not a lot of schools who accept TOEIC). French mother tongue
Relevant coursework : Mathematics, statistics, econometrics, markets organization, micro/macroeconomics, business law, private law.

I don't have any internship or relevant work experience, only summer jobs (the explanation for this is my personal situation, have to work every summer to get money and help my parents).
Did not take the GMAT yet. What school could I get if score 700+ ? same question for 670-700

Thanks !
