Hi, I’m applying to HBS 2+2 and Stanford Deferred enrolment and would greatly appreciate a profile evaluation and any advice!
Background:Final year
mid Ivy studying a STEM Major
International student; first gen in terms of parents not going to a 4 year bachelors
Asian ethnically but from a predominantly white country
Graduating in 3 years with a 3.85
GRE: Verbal 168, Quant 159
Work Experience: Incoming Kleiner Perkins Fellow and Associate Product Manager
a top program (~10 people each year from 4000+ applicants)
Summer Analyst at McKinsey NY
Product intern at a top startup funded by YC and tier 1 investors (sequoia, a16z).
Led and closed seed stage venture deals with 100-250k check sizes for a student led fund.
Extracurriculars:Division 1 athlete for a few years but quit in final year.
Various leadership roles in generic clubs.
Founded a small club - limited traction but surviving.
Reasons for applying: It would derisk pathways like quitting my job to do a crypto startup or similarly risky options.
My GRE quant is low, should I try to explain it? I didn’t know that you could only use a white board and not paper in the at home GRE, so I had to do all the math in my head - scored much higher on the free practices. I have a few quant heavy courses on my transcript that I did ok in though.
Thanks, would greatly appreciate some odds. I don’t think I will apply to other deferred programs because I wouldn’t commit to them knowing that it would cut me off from reapplying to HBS or GSB later on.
