Hi.
I would really appreciate some feedback on my profile.
Age: 30 (31 at target intake - 2022)
Gender: Male
Nationality: Filipino
GMAT: Test not yet taken but targeting to get a 700+ score.
Undergrad:
Accountancy (graduated with honors; top 20% of class) from a good school (probably Tier 2) in the Philippines; GPA: 89% (or 3.4 if based on free online resources available).
Work Experience:
- 6 years with Ernst & Young (EY) under the External Audit Service Line (Promoted twice - progression from associate to manager). Handled publicly listed clients from the FMCG, Power Distribution and Power Generation Industries. I also had significant exposure to holding companies and companies under the construction, retail, and professional service industries. I also managed multiple teams simultaneously for each audit engagement. The team composition per engagement ranges from 2 to 8 members. I also report to other EY offices globally for several audit requirements and was assigned to a few fieldworks abroad (but done only for 2 days to 2 weeks). Exposed to presenting to various members of senior management.
- 1.5 years at a multinational firm as a senior finance analyst handling statutory compliance reporting for at least 7 European countries. My current job allows me to communicate and work directly with foreign nationals although working remotely in the Philippines.
Extra curriculars:
- I was an officer in one of our university’s biggest student organizations that handled student-centric activities, a few charitable programs, and business-related seminars for students and non-students.
- I was one of the leads in our market group’s People pillar during my employment with EY. We were in-charge of organizing events that boosted employee welfare, e.g. sportsfest, self-improvement seminars, social gatherings such as Christmas or yearend parties and team getaways. Involved participants would usually range from 40-400 individuals.
- I started a small convenience store this year with my sister and we are currently figuring out the intricacies of running a small-scale business while the pandemic is still ongoing.
Post MBA Goals: Return to the Philippines and focus my career progression in Corporate Finance (path leading to becoming a CFO of a multinational corporation).
Target Schools: INSEAD, NUS, NTU
I know a high GMAT score will help but looking at my profile without it, are you seeing areas that might be lacking? What are my chances to those schools?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my profile and eventually responding!
