Hi there, I would really appreciate some feedback and answers to my questions below.

Questions:

1. From the info below, what do you think are my prospects at my preferred universities?
2. Which universities do you think I should explore as my backup options?
3. Is there an advantage to applying from Dubai rather than India?

Nationality:
Indian (Resident of and applying from Dubai)

Gender:
Female

GMAT Score:
700. Math (40 percentile), Verbal (95 percentile)

Education:
Undergrad: Bachelors of Science (Hons) in Business Management from King's College London '13. Grade: Upper Second Class

Professional Experience (5 years):
Jul 2013- Mar 2015: Marketing Specialist at a Tech Collaboration company called Moxtra based in Bangalore.
Jul 2015- Dec 2016: Assistant marketing manager - Social Media at Teabox, Bangalore
Jan 2017 - Present: Marketing Manager at Byte Academy.

I have worked in start-ups that have been at varying stages of business. Moxtra is the brainchild of the Founder of Webex, and as a result, had sufficient investment backing it. My role encompassed a variety of marketing activities such as conceptualizing and organizing dedicated marketing events in Bangalore, California, New York and Michigan as well as negotiating terms for various events across the world for Moxtra to sponsor/ participate in, including TechCrunch Disrupt, AppsWorld Europe, and DevLearn Vegas. Setting up the complete execution strategy for the company's social media campaigns, both organic and paid, creating and executing content strategies - curating, optimizing and editing content for all social media channels and the blog, both in-house and with agencies + A lot of BD targeting companies in India.

At Teabox my role focused on the content creation and social media side of things. They had a practically non-existent social media strategy in operation when I joined, and I was able to set up a lot of the strategy and processes that they still currently use.

Byte Academy was one of my most impactful jobs. Being the first employee of this NYC based company in India, I had the opportunity to set up their operations and campus in India, ultimately leading to a constant stream of students taking the courses. I currently lead all the marketing activities in India.

Extra Curriculars:
I am also a professional model and have worked in Dubai, London and Mumbai. I have been on the cover of Grazia magazine in India, along with editorials in Vogue, Friday, and Grazia. I have also walked at London Fashion Week, Lakme Fashion Week and for top Indian designers such as Sabyasachi, Faraz Manan, Bvlgari Jewellery and Nicolas Oakwell.

I am an avid reader and a big sports fanatic, specifically football and tennis.

Languages: English, Hindi, French (A1), Marathi.

MBA Objective:
After spending a considerable amount of time in both industries - tech and fashion, I am looking to merge the unique skills and experience that I have amassed and relaunch a career in Fashion Retail, specifically Brand Management.

Schools:
Preference: Columbia Business School, NYU Stern, UCLA Anderson, INSEAD
Back up: I haven't thought about my backups yet, but would definitely like to be in a big city.

Thank you in advance!

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. I think you do have a shot at these schools. You've got some unique goals & the experience to speak to them credibly. Your work experience also looks solid. If you can get the GMAT up ~40 more points that will help. A 700 is a solid score but slightly below the average for some schools & you generally want to at least & ideally exceed a school's average. I would recommend applying from Dubai if you can. The fact that you are a woman helps a lot (as does the fact that you don't have the typically engineering background & product mgr/tech goals) but the Indian demographic is intense when it comes to b-school apps so might as well apply from a different country if you can!

In terms of back up schools that are in a large city, you might consider USC, Georgetown or Emory.
