Academic Projects, Internships and Extracurriculars:
●Final year thesis focused on identifying and improving the manufacturing process efficiency of Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) thereby reducing the budget by €0.1 Million for nation’s defense purpose aircraft engine.
● Led the 15 member college Formula SAE Team (Ashwa Racing) which represented India at the Formula Student Championship held in Hockenheim, Germany in 2006 and 2007. ● Leading 3 cross-functional teams based out of Coimbatore, China and Germany in developing a product to reduce vehicular emissions in diesel powered vehicles. This product is for one of the largest truck manufacturers in the world to meet current emission legislation in India. Identified a potential business worth €1 Million.
● Successfully led the team in China for 3 months with a primary focus on product development and manufacturing quality approval.
● Leading a team of 5 Assistant Managers and Senior Engineers to develop an alternate cost effective product to reduce vehicular emissions in diesel powered vehicles. This product uses Selective Catalytic Reduction technology to reduce vehicular emissions. Identified a potential market worth €0.1 million in India.
● Collaborating and coordinating with teams from manufacturing, purchase and design from Germany and India to evaluate the localization extent of manufacturing products meant for emission reduction for diesel engines in India. Projected potential savings of 30% with the existing product price without compromising on product quality and quantity.
● Collaborated with cross-functional teams to conceive ideas to determine the product necessity requirements for emerging markets and reduce costs among the existing emission reduction products portfolio. Successfully placed 4 innovations for system and product development in CO2 reduction and existing system simplification. The patents are under processing at the international patent office.
● Reverse mentor to the Joint Managing Director and responsible for conceptualizing strategies to increase the employee participation and foster innovative work environment across borders. Structured processes and incentive schemes to be rolled out across the organization.
Project Coordinator (Vehicular Emission Reduction Strategy)- 3 years
● Coordinated with 3-cross-functional teams from combustion development, calibration development and testing to define and develop hardware requirements for development of commercial vehicle engines and low priced vehicles for Indian market. Identified and proved a total consumer cost savings worth of 6%. Identified and proved an overall CO2 reduction by 10%.
● Collaborated and successfully innovated concepts and solutions with members from different teams for system simplification for diesel fuel injection system and engine development and calibration. The patents are under processing at the international patent office.
● Led a cross functional team to conduct a full-fledged competitor assessment and study the market trends for emission reduction techniques in diesel engines in Emerging Markets.
● Collaborated with cross functional teams to identify a potential business worth €0.9 Million for India’s largest engine manufacturer.
● Led two cross-functional teams from product development (diesel pump, diesel injector and diesel fuel rail) and ECU team and coordinated customer team to define and develop hardware and software requirements for low priced vehicular diesel engine. Optimized the system price by 25%; identified and created a successful partnership with suppliers for component (proto samples and test samples) sourcing.
Extracurricular Activities:
● Teach AutoCAD and CNC programming to differently abled students undertaking their Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Soft skills development). Additionally, volunteer at Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) for animal rescue.

Do I stand a chance in the universities that I am applying for? The class profiles paint a positive picture for me, but there always a sense of nervousness lurking around when I look at the schools for admissions.

Hey dude,
Well I like your profile! You have a lot of leadership, and a ton of international experience. But more importantly, I think is that you get the point - the way you focus in your post on leadership and teamwork much more so than the technical achievements you have accomplished lets me know that you are definitely in the right direction!
Actually almost everything I can see in your profile is pretty awesome - you work for a good firm, with good experience, great grades, a non IT job... almost everything.. because there is that pesky GRE test score.
So I do see your profile very positively and I think you can too, buuuuut I think you should ALSO consider retaking your test. I mean, you are in an interesting position in that all the rest is pretty great... and now if you can get at least say a 680 on your GMAT (or the GRE equivalent) I mean your profile will ROCK!
Sooooo???
What do you think?
Or is it so much more important that you apply now?

Thanks for your reply.
Actually, it is important that I get admissions now for "a" reason far too personal to discuss on the interweb. No offense.
Hence the reasons why I am applying to schools outside of USA for MBA (except for Boston University for a Dual Degree) and targeting MEM schools within the states.
Back up: If I do my MEM program now, I will do my EMBA 5-8 years later.
While ranking do not make any sense to me, Teaching methods, post graduation alumni networking, contribution towards real time projects for organizations and brand name carries a significant weightage in my evaluation (in that order).
P.S. I am planning to attempt my GMAT (First attempt) in Jan'15 or Feb'15 because post MBA, most consulting firms look for GMAT scores for evaluation.
P.P.S. Now that you have gotten me curious (trying my best to resist too), I get a score of 700 or even 700+, which schools am I looking at?
. So then, go for it as you can! You also have a lot of other options both in the US and Europe, but around the same area of ranking...
