Profile Evaluation for MIF 2021

Question

Hello everybody,

My name is Victor and i am French. I want to work in IB and I would like to know if i could join a Top tier Msc Finance in Europe with my profile:

- currently in my last year at ESCE International business School (Finance Master Degree), a low-mid tier business school in France.
- Working on my gmat --> aiming for 680-700
- going to work as a financial controller intern in a CAC 40 company (from January to June 2021)
- 6 months internship in the Real estate industry in London + I did an international market study for a company called clim8
- made 2 programs exchange (one in spain, one in argentina)
- I can speak english, spanish and obviously french.

victordugua : You definitely have a chance with an interesting profile such as yours! In this assessment, you are missing a few key components: 1) GMAT score. You really do need to get closer to the 700 range. Keep studying! When are you taking the exam? 2) What is your GPA at ESCE International Business School? Are you performing well particularly in your quant based classes? 3) Are you involved in any extracurricular activities or outside leadership? That's not as important as it is for the MBA programs but it's nice to have a well-rounded profile. 4) Why are you pursuing a MiF if you are getting a Finance Master Degree? First of all, thank you for your quick response.

1) concerning my gmat i plan to pass it in 4 months
2) I would say that I have a 3.7/4 GPA and I am well performing compared to my class (top 10% for sure)
3) I have some experience but I won't it is relevant (can work on that)
4) I want to do an Msc because it would boost my career. A lot of student are doing that in france. Even after a master degree

That all sounds terrific. It's important that your application and, specifically, your essays sufficiently cover your professional experiences and academic pedigree as well as tell your reasons for getting an MIF. How you introduce career goal of going to IB will also be relevant.

Moreover, you will be competing against other applicants with extensive work experience hailing from the big four firms, therefore you will need to have strong brands present in your CV. Since it seems to be missing from your profile, you will need to highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took, and any kind of impact created to showcase a strong profile.

That said, the schools that you can be targeting in Europe for an MSc in Finance are - ESSEC, ESCP, EDHEC, FSFM, HEC, Manheim, and Bocconi.
