comp level is mid 100K
opportunity cost is 400K and lost promotions
current title - manager software engineering
option1 part time MBA in a major metro area (bay area/NYC/DC)
option 2: full time top 10 only
1. will i need over 650 gmat?
2. any disadvantage to age race and national origin and background in IT?
reason for MBA: want to work in finance at a technology firm specializing in product acquisitions or at a VC firm evaluating technology startups
what did i do in 15 years
1. worked for 10 years doing IT consulting with clients across the country at a small IT company.
2. Worked as a financial systems analyst for 3 years at a media firm and then 2 years now as a manager of software enginneering.
3. went through the immigration process and became a US citizen from a international student. the effort this takes should not be underestimated.
the way the titles are setup it appears that I am an engineer, but my role can be best defined as one that bridges the gap between business and technology.
realistically what is the best option for me to consider a mid level career change.
thanks for your time
