Hello all,

I’m planning to apply at Round 1 to NUS and NTU. Need your help in evaluating my profile and would like to know what I can strengthen in my application and which schools I should target in the UK (with scholarship).

Profile:
Female, age 30, Indian
Undergrad: Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering, CGPA:9.16
GMAT: 710 (Q48, V40), IR 5, AWA 4.5
TOEFL: 111
12 Boards: 94.8%
10 Boards: 94.8%

Work experience:
-4 yrs as a Manager
-4 yrs as a Senior Engineer in a Maharatna PSU in India.
Job role includes maintenance activities in a Petrochemical Plant, Project Management in Automation/Control Systems, Asset and Contract Management, Leading cross-functional teams to solve critical bottle necks, Ensure compliance to International Industrial Standards, Cyber security etc.

Additional/volunteering
- Represented organization in National-level PSPB Badminton tournament (Runners up)
- Lead Inter-departmental cultural competition team of 200 for three consecutive years (First)
- Took initiative to arrange scholarship opportunities for underprivileged kids with high merit in nearby village

Achievement/Awards:
- All India Rank-59 in GATE 2014

Post MBA goals:
Consultant roles in Energy Management/Decarbonization/Renewable Energy/ Climate Tech/Waste Management.

Thanks in advance.

Debanjana:
1. Age on the higher side, therefore UK schools good choice
2. From my experience it looks to me that you may have good or even great extra-curriculars, but can't say unless I know more. With the current ECs that you have mentioned, you may be a tad above average.
3. GMAT for an Indian is ok for taking chance with admissions, but on the lower side for Scholarships.
4. GPA is great, but you haven't mentioned which college; that may make a difference.
5. ONGC (my assumption) does have a mix of role profiles. Yours may be good, or not so stand out. Will know more when you mention more.

You don't have the time (even for R2) to delay much. Whoever you start work with, start early.
As said earlier, it looks like you have potential. Getting a strong application would really make a difference.

Ping if we can help.

Hello Debanjana,

Good to see you targetting UK schools as your higher age and years of experience will be valued there.

While you have a strong overall profile, a 710 may not give you the best chance at schools such as LBS. Thus, if you are looking at LBS, you might want to consider retaking GMAT; an improved score will also help you have a better shot at the other UK top ~2 and top ~3 programs.

Good luck!
