University : Non IIT but one of the top 25 in India.
Undergraduate GPA : 3.41
GMAT : 720 (V41 Q48)

Leading FMCG in the supply chain (demand management) 2010 to 2011
Working with accounts like Walmart and Metro
Family Business into design and manufacturing of industrial equipments (2011 To Present)
Joined as a new product development manager successfully developed a new line of products.
Today in charge of the product development / production / marketing and sales for the new line of products.
Why MBA : to expand beyond a product management / technology management to a more general management role. To get global exposure before taking additional responsibilities in the business.
Long Term Goal : To start an own business / as a part of the existing business in the field of wearable electronics. To expand the current industrial product business internationally.
Short Term Goal : To work in a corporation or as a consultant in the strategic product management / international business area.
Gave GMAT last year very close to the round 2 deadline and applied to top 10 MBA institutes in the US. But looking back I feel that I was not able to do justice to my research, application and essays and would like to reapply to a few this year.
I am looking for a more practical experience (case studies, projects) rather than pure theory in terms of academics.
Some questions
1. Which colleges should I target based on the profile.
2. Should I bother reapplying to top colleges like HBS, Wharton etc.
3. Should I go in for a 1 year MBA or a 2 year full time MBA?
A quick reply would be appreciated.

Hello hello,
So the first question that popped into my mind as I was reading through your profile is: How does your goal have anything to do with what you are doing now? And how can you bring them closer together? And then I found myself asking: What exactly does this family business DO? What exactly do you do? How big is it? Is it growing? How much future potential for growth does it have?
Anyhow, so far I like it! It sounds interesting and the great GMAT will help too!
And for the bad news - as an Indian/Tech/Male from neither a feeder firm or feeder school, and without exceptional UG GPA, Top 10 schools will be a stretch. You can (and should) still apply to 1-2 of them which you like best, but at the same time should concentrate your energies on Tier 2 schools (also most excellent in their own right).
On to your more specific questions:
1. Schools ranked 10-30 are most likely gonna be in your sweet spot. These thoughts might help too: https://bit.ly/814GmatC
2. Not HBS or Wharton. But 1-2 other schools in the Top 10 that fit you - why not? Like Haas for example.
3. It's up to you. The advantages of a 2-year MBA are that it may be easier to find a job, and that most US programs are 2-year MBAs. The disadvantages are the opportunity costs and time away from the workplace.
