Planning to apply R1 2024 and trying to figure out my ceiling. Thanks in advance!
Demographics
[*] Age: 25
[*] Gender: Male
[*] Ethnicity: White / Asian
Education / Stats
[*] Undergrad GPA: 3.2/4.0
[*] Undergrad Major: Mechanical Engineering at top public school (UVA, UCLA, UNC)
[*] GMAT: 770 (Q50 / V46)
GPA is a clear weakness, in truth I just did not enjoy my major and it was difficult. I tried to switch out but would've had to delay my graduation date and that wasn't an option. I have an upward trajectory from a 2.9 in my sophomore year.
Work Experience
[*] 4 YOE total
[*] ~2.5 YOE at boutique consulting firm (ZS, LEK, Clearview) - 1 promotion
[*] ~1.5 YOE at small strategy consulting firm (higher-profile, higher-impact engagements than in previous role) - 1 promotion to post-MBA position
Extracurriculars
[*] Volunteering - minimal, I volunteer every now and then but work keeps me very busy during the week / Sundays
[*] Hobbies - I stay very active, running and working out a lot. Ran a marathon last year, training for a half Ironman this year
Additional info
[*] Why I want an MBA: Move to a larger strategy consulting firm with more opportunities to work across a variety of industries (and could use a 2-yr break since I've been consulting for 4 years)
[*] Why I want one now: GMAT expiring in ~1.5 yrs and I'm about the average age
[*] Target schools: M7 ideally - I am already at ~180-190k TC so I would only want to go to a school that maximizes my chance of moving to an elite firm, just not sure how realistic that is given my stats
