My questions:
1. What are my chances for getting admitted in these programs?
2. I took the GRE to improve my Quant score to 94%ile since two attempts at GMAT did not provide any significant increase (63%ile). However, my Verbal score in GRE reduced a bit, from 84%ile in GMAT to 73%ile in GRE.Should I mention GMAT Verbal scores in my application / optional essay to improve my chances?
3. Are AWA scores important in the B-school application? I scored better on the GMAT: 5.5 & 5 (77%ile & 57%ile) but could score 4 (54%ile) in GRE
Thanks for your valuable time addressing my query..!
Hey there!
thanks for dropping by.
so you have some good stuff in your profile. First is your quick promotion, your non-IT industry, being female and your very nice GPA! So lots going for you!
On the challenges side you have your GMAT (at least for the schools you are aiming), and your applicant pool (as an Indian).
For the two programs you mentioned though, things will be a bit tough (they both pretty much rank as stretch schools). So the question is: what do you want to do? and when? do you want to retake the GMAT? Are you applying next year or this? What are the advantages of each path? I wrote a post a while back about retaking the GMAT, and you may want to read that:
to-retake-or-not-to-retake-that-is-the-question-indian-153716.htmlOther than that: Your GMAT score is just as good as your GRE, so I'd go with using the GMAT (if you are not retaking). And if you retake I'd equally recommend taking the GMAT. As for the AMA, don't worry about it. It doesn't mean all that much yet. and a 5.5 is good.
