Hi,
I would like to request a profile evaluation for the following profile. I am planning to join a FT MBA program in 2021 at a top 10 or top 20 business school. I will be applying in Round 1 in 2020 (that is, around September 2020).
Profile details:
Citizenship: India
Age: 29 years (at the time of application)
GMAT: Not yet written, but expecting a score of 720-730, with a possibility of upto 750
Academic qualifications:
MBA from IIM Indore with CGPA 2.67/4.33
BTech in Computer Science from IIEST Shibpur with score 79.7/100
Work experience:
Total work experience: 62 months (at the time of application)
Company 1 (most recent): Mastercard Advisors
Designation: Consultant
Role: Work on strategy consulting projects in the payments & transactions space for clients in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Remarks: This role lets me work on international projects for leading regional financial institutions as well as other leading brand (although I don't personally travel)
Company 2: Max Life Insurance
Designation: Senior Manager, Business Strategy team
Role: Work on internal strategic initiatives like new business opportunities, process transformations, etc.
Company 3: Deloitte India Consulting
Designation: Analyst (this was before my IIM MBA)
Role: Consulting in the Energy & Resources space for clients like energy utilities, bulk power consumers, regulators, multi-lateral lenders, etc.
Volunteering/Extra-curriculars:
Pretty decent extra-currics, have been in the Placement Committee of the institute during my IIM MBA, have volunteered for a couple of CSR projects in workplaces, have volunteered to mentor younger employees under "buddy program", have been active in the Robotics society during my undergrad years including organizing competitions, training juniors, etc.
I understand that the most peculiar feature of my profile is the fact that I have already gone through an MBA in India from a top-tier institute. Is this likely to affect my candidature negatively? I believe that I can explain the reason for going for a second MBA to the US in my essay. (The reason is that I want to change my geography and its key to have studied in that country and acquire skills specific to that country.) My post-US MBA goal is to work at a top-tier Consulting firm (MBBs) in the US and leverage my existing consulting/strategy experience.
What are my chances at b-schools like Yale, Columbia, Ross (Michigan), Fuqua (Duke), Johnson (Cornell), Darden (Virginia), Tepper (CMU), Tuck, etc.
