Hi Jon, appreciate your insight in this matter. There are some positives and negatives with my work experience. I am an IT consultant and both my jobs have been long term contracts. I haven't worked as a permanent employee so I am unable to show tangible job promotions on my resume, however I worked as a senior consultant who was given more responsibility as the project went on, I can explain my role/responsibilities in my resume indicating that but I can't show job promotions that a full-time employee would be able to show.

In regards to volunteer experience, I have been involved since my childhood in a large cultural organization, which was started by close family friends. The organization is involved in teaching cultural education/etiquette and promotes cultural awareness and beliefs throughout the state. I have been involved in various capacities and I have been involved as a volunteer with other charitable organizations who have partnered with us on many events.

Hey dude,
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but this is gonna make things tougher for you than I thought. To start with IT is a bit of an overlarge pool for candidates, and without a permanent job it makes things looks less good. I think you may have to adjust that list a bit more than I thought, to have a good shot to get in. The thing is, in the top 25 programs the schools have enough candidates with strong work experience and higher GPA, so it makes it all the more challenging for you.

There are still plenty of great programs outside the top 25, and my advice to you would be to adjust your sights a bit to make your goals a biiiit more modest, and I think this will help you have success in your application process.

Best,
Jon
