Profile Evaluation- Lebanese Male

Question

Hello experts,

May I kindly ask you to take one minute to evaluate my profile please ?

· ​Demographics :  27, Male, Lebanese 
· Education:  GPA 3.0/4 (78.5/100) , Computer and Communications Engineering, American University of Beirut ( ranks 2nd in the MENA region )
· Member of the student representative committee for the faculty of Engineering ( students voted for me ).
· Worked in the orientation team for the university
· GMAT or GRE:  GMAT 610( Q 46-v28 )  ( I am retaking soon but I assume I will get a 620 max )
· Work experience: Financial/Technical Consultant at one of the big companies for capital markets: Calpyso,FIS,MUREX SYSTEMS,Finasta ( I cannot share publicly exactly where, if needed please PM me ). 4.5 years of experience ( experience in Derivatives and option trading for FX, IRS , and Equity ) It is worth mentioning that the company has an office in  Downtown Toronto 
·My work is directly related to solving issues for the big banks , mainly RBC ( Royal Bank of Canada ) and HSBC.
· Target schools: HEC Montreal , Ryerson ( Ted Rogers ) , York , Queens

I will be applying for the 2022 intake R1.

I understand my GMAT is on the lower end , but can you please share your thoughts on applying for such programs ? Do you propose I apply to other programs ? Fair point to add is that I recently got married to a Canadian citizen , and I am expecting to receive my PR in early year of 2022 ( do you think this should improve my chances at the universities ? )

JadAsmar : I understand my GMAT is on the lower end , but can you please share your thoughts on applying for such programs? A: This actually feels appropriate based on your GMAT score. You have a great Quant score but a very low Verbal. Why is that? The closer to balanced your two scores are the disproportionately higher total score, so you're best served by really zeroing in on the Verbal section. Do you propose I apply to other programs? A: You could try Carleton, Alberta, Calgary. Generally speaking, I would look at programs where the average is around 620 as an appropriate gauge. Obviously they should meet your other criteria too. Do you mean that you would encourage me to apply with such GMAT score for the HEC Montreal Porgram and the Ryerson one ? In other words , do I seem fit for the average MBA student for mainly the HEC montreal program ? As both of the schools mentioned have a GMAT average of 620.

Indeed the verbal is low.. although I invested a lot in self studying , probably the way of studying the verbal section was bad.

Also , do you agree that my demographics will give me a small push ?

Still, you should consider other programs (as you have noted) as your profile is good but not a sure thing. Also , do you agree that my demographics will give me a small push ? A: How so? A male engineer in his mid-20s isn't exactly an underrepresented group even if coming from MENA. I would argue it's neutral if not a slight disadvantage. Hello ,

Thank you for taking time analyzing my profile.

In fact , I have made the wrong assumption that the most of the universities consider the work experience when the program starts. Allow me to explain , today as of now I have 3.5 years of work experience but I mentioned that I had 4.5 years of experience considering the +1 year until the month of September where most of the MBA programs start. But it turns out the admission officer considers the work experience as of the date of the application.

My retake did not go well , I will be applying with my 610 score ( Q46 V28 ) IR 4. I have noticed that I am also under the average for the work experience for most the programs that I am interested in mainly :

-HEC montreal
- Ryerson , Ted Rogers
- Uottawa

Would you advise me to wait or modify the programs that I am interested in ?

I am not sure I see the advantage of waiting. Is it to gain more work experience? Is it to retake the exam again? Can you please explain more?

Because the GMAT scores for Canadian MBA programs are a magnitude lower than those in the US and EU you might still be fine. I would focus on really acing the other elements of your application to give yourself the best shot.
