I'm curious to see what my admission chances are for global Top MBA schools. I'm targetting a Fall 2021 intake.
Profile: 28M (South Asian/Middle Eastern Mix)
Major: BSC Economics, Biology (Double Degree, completed in 6 years)
University: Top 7 ranked in Canada, Top 200 in the world
cGPA: 2.9
Last 2 years GPA: 3.28
Last year GPA: 3.37
Major (Econ) GPA: 3.5
325 GRE (162Q, 163V, 5.0 AWA) -> equivalent to 680 GMAT (39V, 43Q) as per ETS' official conversion calculator.
-> I did the GRE as I originally wanted to keep my options open for grad studies (was considering Masters in Financial Economics). Please forgive me for doing the GRE and then posting on a GMAT forum
Work Experience - 5 years FT (by intake date) - 1.5 years as an investment analyst at a VC fund in UAE, 2 years as a management consultant at a leading business accelerator in Canada (I was there first and only pre-MBA hire in this role), currently a Director at a midsize international consultancy in their UAE office.
Extras - Nominated by a Canadian political party as MLA candidate (Member of Legislative Assembly, equivalent to State Senator) and ran in a high population electoral district. Co-founded a supplements and herbal remedies e-commerce business and generated 100k in revenue last year (projecting 200k this year). Professional Go-Kart racer for 5 years and came 4th in an international competition representing Canada. Treasurer for 1 year in my fraternity. Member of my uni's Model UN team for 1 year.
Volunteering - Helped raise over 80k for an intl' charity supporting women in developing countries. Served as a volunteer with my provincial health authority for a few months.
Others - Significant international exposure as I have work exp in 3 countries and can speak 4 languages fluently. Can code in Python and currently learning RPA bot programming. Will be giving the CFA L1 exam this year.
Goal - I want to pursue a career in finance. My dream job would be working in either a Biotech or AI/ML focused VC fund, but the number of positions is quite low. I'm also interested in traditional finance roles including IB, CorpDev, M&A. I am open to other opportunities if they arise and are interesting enough.
Why B school - Additional exposure to finance and accounting principles in a formal education setting would be greatly helpful. Also, networking.
Targets - London Business School (top preference), Cornell, Oxford, HBS, Yale, NYU, MIT, Toronto, McGill, Stanford, Booth
Secondary targets - UCLA, UWashington, U of Alberta, Western (Ivey), Calgary, Manchester, USC, Michigan, UBC

Thanks for posting your info. And no worries- GRE is just as valid as GMAT and this forum especially this thread is all about MBA admissions no matter what!
So I agree your work experience looks solid and you have interesting story elements-- starting your own business that sounds like it is doing well, professional go-kart racing (I do not hear that every day!), great international experience that all schools, and especially LBS, will value.
The undergrad GPA is a bit painful though, and the GRE is respectable but not at very top-tier levels. I would consider whether you have another GRE attempt in you (??), and I would include LBS as a possibility and reach, but aim for Oxford, Cornell, maybe NYU, Foster, and a couple Canadian schools which I feel would be reasonable. If you wanted another UK option, perhaps CASS would be a good option in London. (Or Imperial, but CASS is a touch safer). Good luck and keep us posted if we can advise further or you would like a free consultation at any point!
