Hi
Kdivyank9 , depends on what are you looking in terms of learning from the program at this point in your career. You have not mentioned about your future goals and therefore my analysis is based on the limited information provided.
A low GMAT score in an overrepresented pool would make it challenging (but not impossible) to secure an admit to a Top tier MiM program. An MiM from an average institute would provide you opportunities at entry level positions (with some difficulty maybe in finding the right opportunity), so take the decision wisely depending on what you expect from your next degree program. An MBA program from a decent B School in UK/US/Canada would give you an opening wedge to launch your career at good positions as a young management professional.
As you have experience of a job as well yes family business, I think you are well suited for an MBA program. To present a great application, you could bring interesting insights from your experience in family business. Applicants who have experience of working in family business can bring a very unique perspective in that they have experienced first hand, the implications of decision making with specific goals in mind. As the new generation in family business, you could strongly argue your case with examples, citing your fresh and unconventional approach to doing business (as opposed to traditional norms followed by your senior family members) as your motivation for pursuing MBA. The experience of working in family business brings immense learning and challenges that if showcased aptly in your application, would make you a strong contender for a place in the next academic cohort at your target school.
Target a higher GMAT and fall 23 intake to have ample time on creating a stellar application.
