Hi everyone - thank you guys so much for taking the time to evaluate my profile. I am thinking of applying to do my MiM. I would be applying then for R1 Fall 2024 to do my MiM (at that point I will be 22 turning 23 years old). My goal is to utilize the network and program to lateral into a strategy-focused role (think MBB, Monitor Deloitte, EY Parthenon, OW, Accenture, MBB).
I am currently a 22-year-old Thai female.
Academic Background:
I studied Business Administration at a top 10 B-school in EU, my GPA is 3.78/4.00. I speak English fluently (IELTS 8.0) and have been able to speak French in a casual setting (B2).
750 GMAT, 2 letters of recommendation; one from my prof (Trinity and Bocconi grad, director of entrepreneurship in RSM) and one from someone who I worked with (NUS grad, INSEAD MBA)
Practical Experience:
Full-time job: Management Trainee in a big local firm (size $10 billion)
Internship 3: Boutique consulting firm
Internship 2: Finance in FMCG
Internship 1: Big 4 Audit firm
Extracurricular:
Head of a School Club
Research Assistants for a lab focused on fintech
Final notes
Thank you all for taking the time - if there are alternative ways given the opportunites/profile I have currently to obtain a goal of working for a strategy/management consulting frim, please let me know. I figured a MiM would be cheaper and quicker, and then I can always do an MBA later down the road (and would probably get into a better one with the MiM backing me up).
Hi
beautifulsense hope this finds you well
Stellar profile overall! Your academic background is impressive, with a GPA of 3.78/4.00 from a top 10 B-school in the EU. Additionally, your GMAT score of 750 is excellent and showcases your analytical aptitude. Your fluency in English and proficiency in French (B2) are also valuable assets at both LBS and INSEAD.
You will need to solidly justify why you need an MiM at this point, especially considering the promising job option you have. Has your Management Trainee job already been converted to a full-time offer? It is crucial to have utmost clarity regarding your goals, as pursuing a MiM track may not be a preferred feeder profile for an MBA (at schools such as LBS or INSEAD) due to the potential redundancy between the two degrees atleast from an academic point of view. In cases where MBA aspirants have a prior masters, a masters in a core subject such as finance, engineering etc. is preferred over an MiM. So think over your decision well.
I would recommend that you thoroughly evaluate the current potential for making a lateral shift into a strategy-focused role (without an MiM) with firms like MBB, Monitor Deloitte, EY Parthenon, OW, Accenture, and MBB. Engage in conversations with recruiters and industry experts to gain insights and use those to justify your need for an MiM at LBS and INSEAD. It is important to carefully consider your decision in light of your long-term career aspirations, including the possibility of pursuing an MBA in the future.
Best wishes
