I'm considering moving to a new state to pursue a part-time mba. This could prove tricky, as I need to get into one of my target programs!
1) Basic demographic info: 28, male, american
2) Educational Background: mechanical engineer from Purdue, 2.37 GPA, 710 GMAT, 4 Pre-MBA quant heavy classes through UCLA Extension, all A's.
3) Work experience: aerospace structural analyst. I have been promoted twice in less than 3 years. I work in Aerospace at a large corporation.
4) Extracurriculars: Several professional clubs, leadership roles in all of them. Instructing others in seminars for professional development, hosting management dinner events, etc. Worked my way up to President of a management club at my employer. I have been involved with these extracurriculars in some form for over 2 years.
5) Short/Long term goals: I want to pursue program management and eventually become an executive. Prefer east coast or low cost of living states that are still fun.
6) Schools: Was waitlisted in round 1 for Part-time at UCLA and denied in round 2 (not from lack of effort). Considering moving to Houston to continue in Aerospace and matriculate at either McCombs part-time MBA or Rice part-time MBA.
I'm rolling the dice by moving first to show I am committed to one of these programs. Both are great and I would be happy with either. My GPA is the problem and I have a background story to discuss the reasons why...do I have a reasonable shot at these?
Thanks for weighing in,
Omni
