Hi everyone,
I need some serious evaluation owing to my up-down-hill in my career track
Bachelors of Engineering in Biomedical - Passed Out 2015 - CGPA (6.4/10) - Had some F's during my UG, immature & gave importance to blogging and other stuff(no hardcore party or a punk guy).
I actually had a likeness for Finance which came into my knowledge very late i.e.after i passed out. My Dad is a stock trader (NSE & BSE trader, intra day and mid-term horizons, not in long term holdings). So every now and then i stumbled through his financial reports that a company sends out to their shareholders every year and also attended some general meetings with him. Other thing, I was(still am) much interested in the mobile industry and other tech stuffs and i had a keen thing on going through the financial data of every company related to mobile industry and other that were in line of my interest. Also I used to write a tech blog(cellphone industry related stuff) for 1.5 years during my UG but had to stop it owing to my horrible grades.
Some decent extra curriculurs like winning an inter college quiz competition and organized some android workshops. A big thing is I was one of core member of the tech-fest committee(4 Member) of my college during my final year. Not a big tech-fest but was participated by around 550-600 students from various zonal colleges and attendees were around near to 1000.
FF to June 2015. Completed final vivas in June. Was seriously in deep **** by the scenario of So, Now WHAT NEXT? I was deeply interested in Bioinformatics but that is another story. I still possess good algo & coding knowledge but leave it.
Gone through various forums and asked some other people and decided that my career track is gonna be Finance. Enrolled for CFA Level 1 December 2015. I still remember the date it was 27th July last year when i made the decision. Won't go in much deep but worked my ass and studied strategically & smartly in those 4 months. Cleared it.
Registered for CFA Level 2 in January ending. After giving my L1 I was clear that I'll definitely clear it. So i started studying for L2 from Dec 2015 only. FF to August 2016. I am proud to say that I've cleared Level 2 also.
FRM Level 1 Candidate for Nov 19 2016.
I won't go much into my hardship of changing career and accomodating New Subjects and clearing LEVEL 2 also.
IELTS 7.5.
GRE - 321 - Q169, V152.
Appearing for GRE math test on OCT 29 2016.
Shall I take the GMAT? Let me know.
Work Experience very little.
That tech blog I stopped writing for, in my UG, i started again after L2 exam & also currently an editor at a investment & startup analysis blog. I'll be writing blogs as of now and won't be stopping this time.
Worked in my Dad's Financial Firm for around 3 months (June '15 - Aug '15) like checking credit history of new clients and other stuff. It's a small Money - Lending firm.
Worked as a Stock Analyst in a local firm (Dec '15 - June '16). This thing helped me a lot.
Currently working as a Patent Analyst from July '16. It's an Intellectual Property Research & Analytics firm having Fortune 500 clients. Having a branch in Seoul, Korea also. Will be having 1 - Year experience by FALL '17.
Do you think i stand any chance in pursuing my MS in Finance. I'm interested in Investment Analysis, Portfolio Management & Risk Management also whichever I can get.
I'm very much interested in NC State's MS Financial Mathematics Program. It is perfect according to me. And very much balanced also. I think I might have an edge by taking GRE MATH test here. Thinking of taking up some online math & stat courses trying to mitigate my bad UG grades here, if not mitigated, atleast it'll will show the admission committee that i'm interested in pursuing financial mathematics. And I'm really dying to start my masters degree.
Currently I'm digging up various uni & their course modules. I've no specific eagerness to go to US only. I'm good to go if I can get into European Schools/UK/Canadian too.
I would also like to know about some STEM MS Finance programs in USA.
Let me know if you need anything more. Or let me know if i should come up with my uni list and then I'll be suggested by forum members.
I haven't decided on uni yet, owing to my mixed & obscure profile.
I've done some serious work since after me passing out last year. If there is still any chance for me out there for MS Finance. I'll be grateful to you guys.
