Hello All,
I would love to hear additional thoughts and recommendations on I could improve my profile. I plan to apply in for 2012. Thanks!
Basic stats:
27yr old Asian Male
GMAT: 700(Q50, V35)
Undergraduate GPA:3.29
Graduate GPA: 3.78
Education:
Bachelors in Business (Finance) from a small state school and a MS in Finance from a near elite school
Work Experience:
Total of 4 years. 3 years of experience in capital markets at a mid-sized regional bank. I started as an investment analyst and was promoted to associate portfolio manager 13 months later. I currently manage a team of two analysts and will have two years of experience in a leadership role. My experience ranges from managing an investment position to representing the bank by acting as the direct contact to certain auditors and regulatory authorities. Previously, I spent a year working in a non-profit where I participated in educational grants to develop finance education for high school and college students in my home town.
Extra Curricular Activities:
-Mentor and industry contact for the finance education organization I worked for
-Alumni interviewer for my undergrad and grad schools
-Completed CFA exams
Other:
I faced a life threatening illness that impacted my undergraduate studies, but I recovered with a new sense of appreciation for life and pursued more challenging opportunities.
Post MBA plans:
Portfolio and investment strategy for a global asset manager. I am very interested in being a part of an asset manager that invests globally and across multiple asset classes.
Considered Schools:
Wharton, Booth, Sloan, Anderson, Stern, and USC.
Concerns:
I already have a lot of business/finance education with undergraduate and graduate degrees in finance along with the knowledge from the CFA. However, I believe an MBA program will yield a totally different experience and will help me develop a different set of skills.
