Hello Everyone.
My name is Giulia, I am 29 years old and I am Italian.
I have a bachelor degree in Interpreting and translation thath allowed me to learn well Spanish and English and to study 9 months in Uk with the Erasmus programme.
Then I did my "laurea magistrale" in Italy in Management and Promotion of Culture and Tourism. I then did a compulsory internship in a luxury hotel as a personal assistant to the GM.
Later I did a master programm called "5 stars hotel management" that ended in 2013. I then did a internship as room division manager assistant in a 5 stars resort in Sardinja.
Since 2014 I have been working in the hotel sector with Starwood:
I have a seasonal summer job in a luxury hotel in Sardinia where I work as reservation agent and assistant to the front office manager. During winter 2014 I worked in Cork, Ireland as a sales agent for the same company in the headquarter.
During winter 2015 I worked in Cork as a reservation agent marernity cover in a hotel based in the airport.
I would like to change a bit sector since my goal is to work in the conference department,meetings, events, MICE.
I was thinking of doing an MBA since I feel that I lack of managerial knowledge and skills that will allow me to grow
properly. I was also thinking of doing a msc in events but maybe it would be redundant, or not?
I have a ielts overall grade 8 but not Gmat.
I would prefer to study in Uk.
Could you give me any opinion or suggestion about what would be the best choice for me?

Hi Giulia - thanks for writing! So if I understand correctly, you'd like to transition out of the hotel industry into event management? Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with MsC programs in events. While an MBA certainly provides leadership skills, I don't think that event management is a common post-MBA career path. What I would recommend doing first is conducting some informational interviews with people who have event management positions that you desire, and getting their perspective on what they feel is a good path towards those sorts of roles.
