Thanks for reaching out.
1. Do I have a good shot at my target schools, assuming I hit the GMAT score range below? Looking to go to school in California - which is why I haven't thought about applying to many out-of-state schools except for big reaches. I like the tech scene in CA.
A: Yes, though there is a big difference between 690 and 720. Plan to take the exam twice so you can have two shots at this. It's that important.
2. If I do consider more out-of-state schools, which ones would you recommend?
A: Take a look at Duke (Fuqua), Michigan (Ross), Georgetown (McDonough), Cornell (Johnson).
3. What can I do to beef up my profile, if deficient in any area?
A: If you are applying this season, there isn't a ton you can do as far as profile enhancement is concerned. The GMAT, as noted above, is the last big component. Your career goals do need to change. MBB post-MBA is very commonplace - you should consider writing about something else. Entrepreneurship for the long-term needs to be developed - it's too vague as stated.
4. For my professional letters of recommendation, is it preferable to get a partner/executive level recommendation, or are direct managers permissible?
A: Direct managers are better because you want people who you trust and who know you well. Title/experience of the recommender is way less important.
