Hi
bsilasrc,
Thanks for reaching out to us at
mbaMission. Your work background is less typical but interesting. Business schools will value your experience in a family-run business, and also your startup experience. I am a little surprised you would quit that after 2 years if the startup was doing so well. Perhaps there's more you need to explain there, and you can do so in your application essays.
With the low GPA, the best strategy to mitigate this is a high GMAT. Over 700 is a must for the schools you are considering and even closer to 730 would be best for Columbia. You can also write an optional essay showing awareness of your low GPA and offering any necessary context. Depending on how much time you have before you apply, and where the issues lie with your GPA, you could also take some supplemental courses, or complete a program like MBA Math to show your quant skills in another format. You should also ask your recommenders to highlight qualities like maturity and hard work, so Admissions can see you have grown since university.
It also seems like your extracurricular activities could be a bit weak, if they were all during university. Though your interests, music and sailing, may be able to "count" as extracurriculars. Again, depending on how much time you have before you apply, you could add/join another formal activity to show leadership and involvement outside of your work roles.
Hope that helps!
Kate

Hello, wanted to ask if you could review my profile and let me know what you think of my profile and the schools targeted.

I moved up to be a junior manager to create a structured organization. (1 year). I started my own business in Web3 at the same time (a data company developing an LLM-navigated and AI-powered data platform for crypto investors). · Target schools: INSEAD, LBS, ESADE, HEC Paris, Imperial, Columbia. (Any other suggestions?)

· Any specific questions you would like answered by our team: I would like to learn how I can overcome my low GPA with the schools I'm applying to or do you have any other recommendations for B-schools?
Thanks in advance.
