Hi there,
cheekycheeky. So you're applying in R1 this year with 3 years of experience at the time of application, do I have that right? And you've worked at 3 companies in those 3 years?
Personally, it's always hard to say without knowing the full story, but my guess is that NYU Stern would be a reach school, especially as an ORM without a GMAT score (but an estimated one that's on-target at NYU and not above it) and lower than average work experience (the average is 5+ years at matriculation). So, you can absolutely apply, but make sure to add some safer options to ensure success!
That said - do you have to go now? You might benefit more from an MBA after you've had a bit more tenure and perspective, and would give you more experience and accomplishments to add to the classroom (and perhaps recommenders who have seen you in action longer). Plus that would give you more time to build community leadership, which it seems like you don't have going right now. Personally, I'd encourage you to wait, prepare properly for a high test score, build your experience and volunteering, and make yourself into a better-positioned candidate to improve your chances at T15! But if you can't wait, expand your list to find great programs where you're above the averages, and include target and safer options on top of your reaches. Then, when you apply, deliver killer applications with essays that differentiate you from the pack.
Best of luck!
Warmly,
