I would greatly appreciate an evaluation of my profile:

Dear Parker,
For you the GMAT is key. You say you have been scoring a 720 on practices, so what is happening in the tests? Itwould be total folly for you to apply with anything less than your best score, especially since the difference between a 640 and a 720 is massive.

Your military experience, your vast vast leadership experience, and your excellent performance in the military all point towards a Top 20 school, but if you apply with a 640 you might have to settle for less. Plus schools LOVE you guys - military leaders, and especially from the Marines.

So my thought is that you might want to concentrate all your time and energy on the GMAT, and retake ONLY when you are ready, even if this means applying R3, or even if it means applying R1 next year. You have a great profile, so don't shoot yourself in the foot by rushing things.

And once you have your best score, then you can think about where to apply. Your list is a good start.

I hope this helps,
JF

JF,

Thanks for the feedback. I had been leaning towards holding off on applying R2, retaking the GMAT next month and applying in R3; I think that may be the best course of action now. While not ideal to apply R3, if I score what I am capable of then I will be a competitive applicant.

I think the issue I had with my recent GMAT was just putting to much pressure on myself to get a solid score and make the R2 deadlines on a short timeline. I also had an issue with pacing that kept me from completing 3 or 4 questions on the quantatative and I let this carry over to the verbal. I know I can do better and will do so on my next exam.

Thanks again.

Awesome! Good luck!

And let me know what you get on your retake,
