Hi All,

I gave my GMAT recently and got a 690 (Q49, V35, IR6, AWA5.5). I am thinking of applying to six to seven schools. Some of which are as follows:
Tepper, Kelley, UCLA, Fuqua, Mays, UC Irvine.

My work profile goes as follows:
Work Experience (WE): 96 months
Industry: Oil and Gas/Manufacturing
Function: Information Technology/IT Consulting
Technical Expertise: ERP, PeopleSoft, Oracle
Projects: Various big projects (in leadership roles) to improve services
Profile: Managing and coordinating teams scattered around the globe (India, US, UK, Brazil, Norway and Australia) to deliver IT services to our internal customers.
Interactions with: Internal customers/business heads/Corporate leads
Certifications: Six Sigma, Leading High Performance Teams (LHPT)
GPA: Close to 3.7
Extracurricular Activities: Founded of a social initiative (Prayaas) to impart education in villages. Co-Founded a cloud based service (servehr.com) targeting start-ups and small sized organizations. District level( under-18) basketball player.

After graduating, I am looking to be placed in a technology company.

Considering my profile, schools selected, and my GMAT score, what are the chances of get at least 100% scholarship in any of the colleges? So which college would be the best?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Wazza

Hey Wazza!
Got a few questions before I can answer you:
How old are you?
Where you from?
What gender?
What school did you graduate from?
Got any leadership? How many people have you led?
Can you elaborate on your international experience? (this one sounds good!)
What about volunteer work?

Get back to me dude, and I will do my best to advise,
Cheerio,
Jon

Hey Jon,

Thanks for your reply. Below are my answers:

How old are you? 30 yrs
Where you from? India
What gender? Male
What school did you graduate from? PEC, Chandigarh, India with 3.6 GPA
Got any leadership? How many people have you led? Currently I work as an Assistant Manager, and I manage 5 people in the India office and 4 worldwide.
Can you elaborate on your international experience? (this one sounds good!) Physically been to Houston and New York a number of times to delegate tasks and for meetings. Otherwise, coordinate with team members and clients from India office.
What about volunteer work? Part of an organization that helps spread the importance of education in villages. We provide various scholarships, cash awards etc to students and parents.
Was the team leader during my stay at Deloitte Consulting (1.5 yrs) for multiple volunteer efforts that we did with various local NGOs in Hyderabad, India.

Please let me know in case you need some more clarifications from me.

Thanks again!
Wazza

Allrighty,
So that leadership and that international experience is very good stuff, and you should definitely be using that in your application. Probably the toughest point is your GMAT, but it's maybe a bit late in the year to do something about that.

From your list, Duke and Tepper are the toughest schools. At the other schools on your list you should be more competitive (but it's totally good that you have some tough schools there).

Did I answer your questions? I hope so...
Best,
Jon

Hey Jon,

Let me ask you this then...considering my profile and my intent to target a post-MBA job in the Technology Consulting industry, which schools you feel I should target.
Thanks.

Hmmm, the one other obvious school that SHOULD be on your list, but is not yet, is Rice in Texas, given the oil industry thing. Other than that, I think I would suggest adding one "safe school" to your list to round out your strategy

Rice is a good addition. I will add that to my list. Thanks.
Also, which schools would you consider "Safe" for me?

Let's say relatively roughly... schools at which your GMAT is about 40 points (or more) higher than the average.
