Hi,

Your decision to retake the GMAT is a good one. 710 is an average GMAT score for an Indian and a higher score would definitely help, even at the lower ranked colleges such as McCombs and UNC. I'd also add that your final list of colleges should be decided once you have your new GMAT score. Ross and Fuqua place tremendous emphasis on extra curricular activities and not having any can be a red flag. Ross specifically asks an essay question about something you are proud of outside your professional life- while you don't necessarily have to write about an extra curricular activity over here, but that exposure could lead upto some interesting story.

Do I lack work experience or leadership skills? Can i make up for it with a higher GMAT score?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Hi Manick9,

I understand that you are working while studying? If this is the case, I guess you would already have a lot of interesting exposure with the police force, as an exchange student and other activities/ full time work you would do until you apply. So I think you are on the right path.

At this time, concentrate upon maintaining your grades to a >3.5 level. The WExp, leadership and better GMAT scores can be built along the way, but you will have to live with the GPA. And a GMAT of 700+ is always beneficial.

Hi Namit Garg,

I am studying full time. I am currently in my 3rd yr of my undergrad. Maintain a GPA of 3.5 upon 5 or 3.5 upon 4 ?
Assuming I get 700+ what are my chances of getting into an Elite Uni with my current WE of 3 yrs as I want to do MBA after my undergrad?
Which Unis would you suggest me to apply?

Thank you very much!
Manickam
