Questions:
1. How does my profile currently fare compared to the competition?
2. What all things should be done to provide an extra-edge to my profile?
3. Would certifications in data science and insurance help in my MBA application?
4. Would getting an job onshore help in my application?
Thanks a lot!
Hey dude,
Very good to hear from you. Let's take a shot at your questions to start with:
1. How does my profile currently fare compared to the competition?
It depends where you are aiming for. You have a very good GPA, but from a non-IIT/NIT (which makes Top 10 schools VERY challenging). Also, since you didn't write it, I will assume that your employer is also not a big name employer. What that means is that with a solid GMAT (710+) your "Sweet spot" will likely lie in Top 20 schools (i.e. 10-20)
2. What all things should be done to provide an extra-edge to my profile?
Besides the obvious of getting a superb GMAT, what I am missing from your profile (and possibly simply because you didn't write it yet) is something UNIQUE and INTERESTING. Okay, so you have a good GMAT and GPA and did well at work. You and many thousands of others of applicants. But WHO are you? What is SPECIAL about you? What is unique? How do we know YOU will succeed against the competition? The Adcom will be looking for this.
3. Would certifications in data science and insurance help in my MBA application?
Not at all.
4. Would getting an job onshore help in my application?
It doesn't matter. Although Working abroad, especially in the West is helpful.
I hope my comments helped,
Best,
JF
