Profile evaluation request

Question

23 year old male
Indian

Class 10 - 80%, Class 12- 90%
Undergraduate MBBS ( medicine) 70% from a top private university 
Have not appeared for gmat yet.

Member of multiple student bodies in various capacities from volunteer to president ( of research forum). Organised numerous events on campus and off. Volunteer at NGO as teacher and mentor for underprivileged children .

Targeting top 10 schools in Asia with preference for Singapore. Not applying to Indian schools.
Idea of 2019 January admission. Plan to clear cfa level one until then but unsure how to spend my time otherwise except volunteer work. I am not keen on working as a doctor.

Thank you for your response. I have completed one year of compulsory internship as part of my training. No work experience though. I only got my degree earlier this month.

Hi there,
Thanks for the update. It will usually be more challenging when you don't have several years of work experience, when compared with other applicants who have 4-6 years on average, given that a lot of learning at business school comes from your classmates, and the schools are cognizant of that as well and want to ensure everyone has a lot to contribute from the workplace if possible. That said, nailing the GMAT would obviously help, and really putting forth a strong vision of your future goals and why you need the MBA... you don't want it to come across as though you just need/want it to change directions because you don't know what else to do. Your chances may be higher if you did go work in an area that is relevant to both business and healthcare for a couple of years first, to help make that transition, if that is an option.
