Hi, Please evaluate my profile and give me advice.
1)Nationality: Indian
2)10th:91.4%
3)12th:86.7%
4) Bachelors in Technology- NIT Hamirpur- 8.5/10 CGPA (translates to 3.70 GPA)
5) Working as a Software Engineer for 22 months in a US based MNC.
6)Extraciriculars: Photography, Videography, Reading, Sketching.
Held the role of Secretary of Ethics for Cultural Festival and Secretary of Photography, Creative Arts and Webdesign Technical Festival in College.
Contributed to Tedx community during college.
Currently leading initiative to help colleagues improve their speaking skills at Work.
Also, currently undertaking a course to learn an additional language-German.
7) GMAT score: 690(Q50/V32)
This score was highly unexpected as I was scoring above 700 in my practice tests.
I am unsure whether I can get a good B school with this profile. I am considering retaking the exam, but I need help in taking the final leap.
I am targeting UCLA Anderson, Columbia and Duke Universities.

Hey dude!
Good to hear from you and see that you have a great MBA dream!

So a few thoughts before you go ahead an apply:

First as a software engineer 22 months is not nearly enough experience for you to apply. It's true that some people do apply with two years experience, but mostly they come from Finance or Consulting. The expectation would be that you have had enough time at work to PROVE how good you are (and hopefully get enough leadership)

Secondly, do not underestimate how COMPETITIVE things are especially for people in the toughest demographic (i.e. yours... Indian/Male/IT). Have a look at this amazing post here by our friends at GMATclub, and it will give you an idea of just how challenging: https://gmatclub.com/forum/mba-admissio ... 39142.html

What does this tell us? That for your target schools you need 40-50 more points on the GMAT.

If you do retake, which I would definitely advise, have a look at this article too about Indians and retaking the GMAT: http://admissionado.com/mba/to-retake-o ... n=mba_blog

So my advice: start planning NOW for an application in 1-3 years. Get leadership. Do volunteer work. Get a better GMAT. Keep up your activities. And add any sort of leadership you can anywhere. Do that and your profile will be much improved!

If you need help planning it all, drop us a line:

Best,
JF
