Hey
yang1611Thanks for posting and congrats on your impending citizenship!
Work experience and international experience looks solid. To break into investment banking though, there is going to be pressure on your GMAT. They are usually looking for 730+. But that's later -- after you get into b-school, so let's focus on the short-term first.
For the schools you are targeting, 700/3.1 can be a tough combo. Your GPA puts you in the bottom 10th percentile of successful b-school applicants for the schools you are targeting. (Normally the 80th percentile range is 3.2 to 3.8.) With the 3.1, there's even more pressure on the GMAT to prove that you can succeed in these programs. I had Darden tell a client of mine on the waitlist a few years ago that he really needed a minimum of 730.
So...how do you feel about taking the GMAT again? That would be my top recommendation. Alternatively, build out your school list...look at programs like Georgetown, Notre Dame. I like Johnson for you -- that will get you where you want to be career-wise and I've seen 700/3.1-like combos be successful before -- but we never know what your competition will look like year to year so it's still a bit hazy.
So...I hope that helps a bit. It's only May so you have the luxury of time with the GMAT...purchase the extended score report and then try getting a private tutor to help you with your weaker areas.
Krista
