Masters in Development Studies (TISS,Mumbai) ,2013-15 - 6.3/10
GMAT or GRE not taken yet ( need advice on this ,how much minimum should I target)

Work ex: 3 years as a software engineer in an IT company (2010-13), 2 years in government of rajasthan(2015-17) ,close to one year in M.P government(Aug 2017- present)
I was interested in social sector ,went to TISS for masters and then worked as Young Professional in Rajasthan state rural livelihood mission (Dept of rural development & panchayati raj,govt of rajasthan) from May 2015- May 2017 .There I worked for implementing National Rural Livelihood Mission .Main task was assisting district and state teams in capacity building(trainings to community cadre) ,institution building (SHG's,etc),financial inclusion ,livelihood intervention etc.
Currently(Since Aug 2017) I am working as C.M Fellow in Government of Madhya Pradesh .I am working as a capacity of chief minister's research associate closely analyzing policy of state government and giving feedback on the same. i have conducted various assessment study of policies and schemes of govt. of india and govt of madhya pradesh.Here I am closely working with bureaucrats and also assisting the district collector of a district.
I want to pursue MBA to switch into international development consultancy.I believe MBA will give thrust to my career as I have been at grassroot and policy level and would be completing 4 years in this sector when I join ISB in 2019 and also I am seeking to remain in the social sector as a consultant after MBA.
looking at my profile .Do i have a chance to get into ISB Or can you please suggest other options which I can look into?

Dear Puja,

This is with reference to your profile evaluation request on the ISB Profile evaluation thread.

I am an ISB alum, CO14, and run an admission consulting firm, CrackAdmission (www.crackadmission.com) and would be happy to evaluate your candidature.

Below is my take on your profile
Academics: Average ;
Work Experience: While JP Morgan is a good brand to have in your profile, what about other companies you have been associated with. Also, how was your career progression during the 7 years. With an experience that is greater than the avg. work ex of ISB, admission committee will expect strong leadership examples from you. These need to be articulated well in the essays
GMAT : 720 is above the median of ISB (which is 710). Hence, gives a hygiene check.
Extra Curricular : Varied ; however you will need to stress on ONLY one of your extra curricular and demonstrate how you have been committed to it. Note that neither does ISB ask you to provide certificates NOR is NGO association a mandate. What matters is how passionately you have done an extra curricular and what is your motivation to continue it.

Goals : You will need to articulate very clearly how did you decide on doing an MBA only after 7 years – why is this the right time, and what career progression do you have in mind and what specific role will ISB play in the same.
Overall, with an impactful application (essays + form + LOR), you should have a good chance of making it to ISB.

In case you have further questions and want a detailed discussion or professional support, please feel free to reach out to me at arijit.biswas@crackadmission.com and/or M :+91-9701215544

Cheers
Arijit

[Dear ss1990,

This is with reference to your profile evaluation request on the ISB Profile evaluation thread.

I am an ISB alum, CO14, and run an admission consulting firm, CrackAdmission (www.crackadmission.com) and would be happy to evaluate your candidature.

Below is my take on your profile
Academics: Average ;
Work Experience: Good mix of different industries. You will need to focus on why you switched industries and how did you carry forward your experience from one role to the next one.
GMAT : 680 is below ISB’s median BUT with a well-articulated essays you definitely can get an interview call after which you will need to impress the interviewers by demonstrating what value you will add to the ISB community.
Extra Curricular : Varied ; however you will need to showcase a common theme across all your engagements/initiatives.

Goals : You will need to articulate very clearly how did you decide on doing an MBA only after 6 years – why is this the right time, and what career progression do you have in mind and what specific role will ISB play in the same. Also, your short term goals should be something that is aligned with procurement, commercial negotiations and vendor management. Saying something like you would want to go to Consulting will not be go well with ad com,

Overall, with an impactful application (essays + form + LOR), you should have a good chance of making it to ISB.

In case you have further questions and want a detailed discussion or professional support, please feel free to reach out to me at arijit.biswas@crackadmission.com and/or M :+91-9701215544
