Hello :)

I would really appreciate if I can get some guidance on this:

B.Eng -Electronics and Instrumentation Control - CGPA 6.4/10 (Thapar University - One of the Top Private Colleges in India)
18 Months of Work Experience in India - Oil and Gas / Petrochemicals / Engineering
MSc (Eng.) Process Safety and Loss Prevention - Distinction - University of Sheffield
Won the best thesis Prize and was the course rep for my year.
24 months of Work Experience in United Kingdom (with Short Stints in Kazakhstan and Netherlands) - Technical Consulting in Oil and Gas

I believe I can achieve 700-750 on the GMAT.
What Bschools would be the best option for me (US and Europe).
Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S -But due to my low gpa in the Bachelors, I am not sure I have a chance to get into any top programs.

Hello my friend,
Well I'd love to help you out and give you some advice, but I don't have enough information. I don't have your GMAT or your TOEFL. I don't know what you actually DID at work. I don't know anything about your volunteer work or extra curricular activities... or well... much of anything :)

so why not elaborate a bit on your profile?

Feel free to fill out our questionnaire here, where we ask all the info we need: https://bit.ly/mbafcGC

Best,
Jon

Many thanks for getting back to me Jon,

Well,

I have not given the GMAT yet. This is very much a preliminary assessment. I did give TOEFL and GRE few years back (GRE 1350 (Q-800; V-550) TOEFL - 106). These scores are not valid any more.
I have one Volunteering Experience and quite a few achievements in extra curricular activities - Ranging from Sports to Stage Management/ Co-ordinator / Editor etc during my academic and professional life.
Does this information help ?
Best Regards!

Hey dude,
Well it certainly helps, although I could use more info about your work experience and your employers, which as you can imagine will play a major role in your application.

But let's start with what we have...

I'd say if you can beat a 720, then Top 20 are in for you - meaning you'd have a decent shot at them, and be relatively competitive. Nonetheless, unless your work experience is exceptional, Top 10 will be tough (we call them "Stretch schools"). Not impossible I don't think, but tough. It's the combo of non-IIT plus lower GPA that will make things harder. Again, things will change depending on your GMAT. A 720 is great, a 770 is better :) (Even if it still means top schools may be tough.. but it IS better).

And looking from your prior test scores, it looks like we have something to look forward to :)

Best,
Jon
