Thank you for reading my profile. Due to COVID-19, some schools have extended their deadlines for R3/R4 to June/July and it's made me think whether it's worth applying now to try to get in versus an infinitely more competitive R1/R2 this Fall. I am a low GPA/ORM applicant which makes me think my chances at T25 are quite small. However the 2.65 uGPA is from the institution I got my degree from. I have near perfect A's from another school I transferred from that would bump up my GPA to 3.0, do adcoms take this into account? My employer also paid for graduate courses I took at a local university that I got A's in. I'm hoping this mitigates the damage I did in a couple of bad years at university. Should I do UCLA extension to mitigate low GPA?
Work experience: 2 years at big pharma, 3 years at Bay area biotech. Analytical chemist developing new separation methods for biomolecules. Promoted once at first company. Then made a jump to another which was a promotion and was promoted again. Each promotion took on new roles in and outside of lab. At my second company I was in charge of optimization of lab operations and outsourcing resources. I was able to streamline operations and bring cost savings for the company.
Extra curriculars: STEM outreach: designing experiments as demonstrations for elementary school students, one-on-one mentoring for college STEM students, held mock interviews for college students. I have been doing this for the last two years. I am currently the co-chair of a STEM outreach program for K-12 students at my company. On a side note, I'm an avid amateur sailor and have won an amateur regional sailing competition.
Undergrad school/major: BS chemistry at Big-10 state school
Other education/coursework: 2 publications, 2 small conference presentations and 1 ACS national conference presentation, 3 classes/9 credits of graduate coursework my previous employer sponsored (all A's).
Race/nationality: SE Asian American
Sex: Male
Age: 30
GMAT Score: 750, 49Q 44V
Undergrad GPA: 2.65
post-MBA: Move to big pharma and work in a project management/business transformation role. Ideally, I'd like to be working with R&D project teams on how to streamline processes, cut costs, and CRO management.
