Background:
White, Male, 32. Undergrad: Regional Satellite of a Public State University
Work Experience:
7 years of experience. Transitioned from a office manager (1 YR), operations manager (5+ years), general manager (less than 1 year). This is for a small IT integrator that does have a client base that is national. During this time I managed, early on 5 direct reports, to later 15+ direct reports. I have visited China many times beginning in 2017 and worked with manufacturers to establish our product, so I have a decent amount of international experience in this regard.
Undergrad Stats:
Major: History
GPA: 3.07
Major GPA: 3.7
To add to this, I am a first generation college student that comes from a very low income family. I worked throughout my undergrad career to not only support myself, but to support my parents (mother had a medical disability and father had difficulty with work between 2009-2011). I first started my undergrad career on an engineering track, because I simply thought this was a direct way of leading to a career after graduation. I was ignorant and literally thought that the best way to achieve a career were degrees that led to becoming a doctor, lawyer, or engineer, and only the latter actually provided me with some interest in pursuing it. I did not have a passion for it and after 2-3 years I switched majors. As a result of this change and my needing to work full-time during my undergrad, it took me six years to graduate.
My GPA trajectory is very strong after I made this change and my last handful of semesters were generally a 3.7+ with some 4.0s, dean's list, etc.
To add, I currently mentor coach/volunteer for an organization that assists first generation/low income college students.
GMAT: 700 (47Q/40V/7 IR) - Currently waiting on final AWA, but I'm sure it'll be 5+
Post MBA Goals:
Operations Management with a global presence. Think Boeing or the like.
MBA Targets: Tepper, Georgetown, UNC
Stretches: Ross (Tauber), Cornell, Duke
Fall back: Foster, Kelley, Emory

I am sure many people will say that getting my GMAT up will help, I agree, it probably would, but I spent (4) years pushing my GMAT from a 450 to a 700. I am likely closing the book on the GMAT. It would be great to know if my expectations are in line and if anyone has any suggestions I am open to that as well.
Thank you!!!
