Yes, if the deposit is a major concern for you, I would wait to apply to in R2 alongside these other programs. You are not going to be at a huge disadvantage.

I am not one to speculate about people's financial situations, but the deposit is usually only ~$1,000. Relative to the cost of an MBA, that's a drop in the bucket. It could be nice to have that security even if it comes with a sunk cost. That's just food for thought.

The difference (if any) between R1 vs. R2 for financial aid is not significant.
