Hi all,
Request to evaluate my profile for the college.
Mentioned below are my details.
Please let me know which schools I can consider as safety, target and stretch.
I am only applying to Tepper, Duke and Columbia in R1 as I have missed deadlines of several schools in R1.
I am also considering moving Tepper to R2 as I will be applying to better schools in R2. If admitted to Tepper either I will have to accept the admit and pay the deposit (which I will have to forego incase I get into better school ) or reject the admit.
Open to suggestions on Tepper application dilemma
Personal Details: 25 M (Indian)
Academic:
GRE- 336 ( Q-170, V-166)
B.E. (Electrical Engineering) from IIT Delhi (Top Engineering College in India) - 7.7/10
WE - 4 years at the time of intake
Professional:
Worked 1.5 years straight out of college at Samsung R&D
- Worked as a software engineer to develop bluetooth systems.
- Picked up cross-functional tasks to work with teams across engineering, vendors and project managers
Working for the past 2 years at Goldman Sachs Bengaluru office as a software analyst
- Worked with multiple stakeholders across divisons to remediate operational risks of electronic trading systems.
Extra-curriculars:
- Was part of University field hockey and dance teams which won several competitions
- Also held leadership position in Dance club
- Was a manager at a student run NGO, handling a 3-tier team of 40+ volunteers across colleges in Delhi.

Hi Kafkaesque, point of clarity - you want to know which schools ON TOP of the ones you've named are safety, target and stretch? Or you want to classify the ones above-mentioned? And what "better" schools are you targeting in R2?
To me, you are in a tricky spot, as you are applying from a super competitive category - Indian engineers. You have some very nice pieces of your profile - your overall GRE is high and your quant is super strong, and your undergrad institution was very good. Your GPA might be a bit low to my eyes vs. other applicants, and your work experience is below-average. These can be setbacks, but you might be OK if everything else in the app is done with care. You'll want to explain where you're going and why you need the MBA from each school to get there, taking the time to demonstrate the homework you've done on their programs. You'll also need to show good leadership and impact professionally - have you been promoted yet in your newer role?
Of the schools listed, Tepper is likely to be the one that is the most reasonable target for you (and I'd apply in R1 assuming you are ready), with CBS as a longer reach and Duke in between... you didn't give much time before the deadline to ask about R1 vs. R2 (it was Oct 3 for R1) so I'm not sure my opinion matters at this stage, but GOOD LUCK!
