Profile Evaluation Request

Question

Education (left a link to the GPA because i used that only website to calculate it: Estudied Civil Engineer, with a GPA of  3.5 /4.00 (5.8 from a max of 7 with a minimun of 4 to approve the class, in chilean scores) the University is ranked 7th on my country in south america.

GMAT Focus Edition: 625 (Q84 V81 DI78), percentile 83

Work experience: 6 years of work experience -- most recently, 3 years working on a real state company as Project manager, and 3 years on construction companies as construction manager.

Extracurricular Activities:
During my college years, I dedicated myself extensively to extracurricular involvement. Specifically, I was elected as a part of the student council board for the engineering department at my university from 2015 to 2016. In this capacity, I was incharge of leading various areas, including Sports, Social Outreach, and Cultural activities. Additionally, I was solely responsible for managing finances throughout this period.
Also, during this stage of my life, between the years 2014 and 2018, I had a small YouTube channel and a Twitch channel with some friends as a hobby, we didn't care about making profit or a life out of it.
For the last 3 months my wife and I have embarked on an additional project alongside our jobs, involving the manufacturing and sale of scrunchies and hair accessories. Our priority isn't solely profit, but rather contributing to society by providing job opportunities for older women. While we have completed the theoretical groundwork, we only began producing the products about three weeks ago, so our entrepreneurship is still in its early stages.

Post-MBA goals: I would like to get into consulting role, be able to keep my entrepreneurship going and expanding it to help more people.

Desired schools: MIT, KELLOG, Berkeley Haas, Fuqua, UVA Darden, Tuck (Dartmouth)(my priorities are in that order)

Other info: I am a 32-year-old Civil Engineer, happily married with a six-month-old baby boy and lastly I am a first generation university graduate in my family.

I'm aware that my GMAT score isn't the strongest, which is why I'm not currently considering applying to MIT. Unfortunately, my performance on the DI section was particularly poor on the day of the exam. I know that the roundd you apply doesnt affect the outcome, but im thinking on applying on early rounds for Darden and Fuqua and for all the others on round 1.

Could you please evaluate my profile assuming 2 scenarios?
1.- I don't retake the GMAT?
2.-Assuming that I achieve a new GMAT Focus score of 645 (89th percentile).

This is a good list of schools. I wouldn't necessarily segment them out based on your lower and projected higher GMAT Focus score. I'm not sure it will make a huge difference overall though it is a good idea to retake the exam.

I think Haas, Fuqua and Darden are very good fits. You will definitely be a good candidate. Sloan is probably tough (but not impossible) given the large interest. Kellogg will also be a little reach but not totally out of the question given how family friendly it is and your age. Tuck is kind of in the middle given its small size (so less room for error).

It's very important that you build strong relationships with these schools, particularly Tuck, Darden, and Fuqua since those schools appreciate applicants who make an effort to get to know them.

Thank you for your insight, would you recommend ñ me to apply on early rounds to duke and darden?
Because if i do and get admited i think i have to make the decision before i get the results of R1 leaving kellogg, haas and tuck out.

Would you recomend me to apply to round 3 or 4 of Fuqua and round 3 of Kellog this year?
Because im still on time and im not getting any younger xD

Not if you intend to apply for admission to the programs in R1 of next year. It will be too difficult to show any meaningful progress or change if you are not accepted in R3/R4 this year. There will not be enough time passed.

At this point, your age is what it is. An additional year is not going to fundamentally change your chances. R1 is a better bit since you will (still) be in the 30-35 bucket.
