2) Educational Background: undergrad major, GPA, GMAT score, any grad work you've done
Undergrad Major : Engineering (Information and Communication Technology) , SASTRA University India
GPA: 7.6/10
GMAT SCORE : 720
Grad School : Management Information Systems from Liataud Graduate School of Business, University of Illinois at Chicago
GPA : 3.8

3) Work experience: what is your current role? Have you had any promotions? What industry do you work in? For how long have you worked?
Current Role - Sr Business Analyst
Promotion - 1
Industry - Travel and Technolgy
Total Experience - 5 years
Expedia - 2 years, Masters 2 Years, TCS 1 year

4) Extracurriculars: do you participate in any extra-curricular activities? What is your role there? For how long have you been involved?
Worked as a volunteer for 2 years of my masters and helped 6 people with disabilities start small businesses
Volunteered around chicago for a NPO for one year
Business Case and Business Plan competitions in Undergrad and Grad school
Hiking - Hiked the tallest mountain in lower 48(Mt Whitney) and several others within US

5) Short/Long term goals: what do you want to do after your MBA? Any geographic preferences?
Short Term - Management Consulting after MBA
5 years after MBA - Start something on my own in technology sector or lead the strategy for technology startup
15 years after MBA - Use my experience through MBA and consulting/strategy in starting a non-profit for developing the educational opportunities for the underprivileged children

6) Schools: Which schools have you considered already? Any on your initial short list?
Three schools under consideration
1.Kellogg
2.Booth
3.ISB

Looking for suggestions on other schools which would be good for strategy consulting after MBA. Also guidance on preparing the applications for the schools

You have a good profile but I'd have to say that you are almost a 'borderline' profile. By that I mean, if you can make a strong application- with impressive, well-thought essays, achievement-focussed resume and detailed letters of recommendation, you will stand a chance at your target schools. If you do a sub-optimal job on the applications, the work ex, and good scores won't be able to save you.

I like that you did your Masters from US/ Chicago. The 720 on GMAT is also decent. Most consulting firms will look at your GMAT and you have jussttt crossed the cut-off. But again getting placed with a consulting firm will be a lot of effort and networking.

If you are already living/working in Chi-town area then visiting mid-west schools must be done. In addition to your schools, Varun I'd recommend Ross Michigan, Duke Fuqua, Darden, and Tuck.

ISB should be relatively easy. At least getting the interview invite

But then you have to convince the adcom why you want to move back to India and related questions.
