Hii, I would appreciate your inputs on this -
I am an Indian male from Medical background, I have studied medicine as my undergrad (5.5 years of curriculum including one year mandatory internship).
Targeting deferred MBA programs in this cycle.
Academic stats - University percentage for 4 years aggregate - 61%, It's on a lower side but I was involved into other activities to improve myself or manage my finances during the college (mentioning below).
GMAT - 730 (Q50, V39) with an IR 8 and AWA 4
Full time work experience - None
Part time teaching - I have taught biology to about 25 students of 11th class at a local coaching institute during my 1st year of college, (mainly to manage finances but definitely was a confidence booster.
Extra curricular involvement -
- I have taken an initiative to start a new Community Toastmasters club in a new city where people have tried 3 times and failed and we successfully started a club. I became the founding president for 7 months. (Led to club and club members towards various achievements)
- I have been part of one of the largest medical students association in India (NGO) MSAI - I was a local officer for one of their standing committee. Organized 6+ events with over 15+ volunteer participation around the city. (Events were regarding spreading awareness for different types of health related issues to the local population)
- Currently I am trying to find out how can I go about building the very first Alumni association for our college.
- Was part of the main organizing team for a few college fests - I was mainly leading them with delegating work and taking responsibility of getting everything done systematically.
Achievements -
I have cracked entrance exam (NEET 2016) to go into a Govt. medical college in India, I have secured a rank of 3700 among over 9 lakhs people appeared. 99.5+ percentile.
Post MBA goals -
To work in consulting predominantly targeting but not restricting myself towards healthcare domain. After gaining significant experience and exposure my ambition in long term is to start my own venture to mitigate the areas of improvement I can find in the Healthcare industry.
NOTE - I also want to put weight on one thing that I come from a tier 3 city with not even a doctor in my whole family (that makes me the first one) - Had less exposure to opportunities and less awareness but I have always tried to do something with the opportunity I can find and I can show it with the stories I have. Please let me know if that can be helpful and to what extent.
I am applying to deferred MBA program in this cycle only.
Apart from USA, I'm also considering ISB's YLP program in India.
Please suggest which schools I should target and if you can evaluate - what are my chances?
