I am from India, and I would like to go for Masters in Finance / Strategy for the Fall 2017 intake. Following is my profile. Request you to kindly evaluate the same and give some valuable insights, if any.
Nationality: Indian
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Commerce (3 years) CGPA - 5.76/7
- Master of Commerce Part 1 - Passed - Scores awaited
- Chartered Accountant (an equivalent of CPA of US) - Cleared all the three levels in first attempt
GMAT - 640; Quants: 46, Verbal: 31, IR: 4, AWA: Score awaited
TOEFL - 100; Reading 21, Listening 24, Speaking 26, Writing 29.
Work Experience
- A Chartered Accountant firm. Worked as an articled assistant, full time with more than 40 hours per week. Duration Aug 2012 - Aug 2015.
- A Big Four MNC firm. Worked as Senior Executive from Sept 2015 to Aug 2016.
Extra Curricular
- Awarded 'Rising Star' from Big Four MNC.
- Blogging.
- Published article and poems (hindi) in college magazine.
- Published photographs in college magazine.
- Mathematics, extempore speech and CSR certificates of school level.
- Several other school level certificates for participation in several inter school competitions.
Target Universities - IVY league.
Request you to kindly consider whether the above profile stand to gain chances for an intake for Masters in Finance in top universities in US or not. If not, then which ones should I consider as next best option.

It sounds like you have solid work experience in prep for a Masters in Finance, and some relevant extra curricular involvements; the GMAT score sounds like it's probably below average at the top US programs.... cross reference and look at the class profiles and averages by school to see how you compare, and consider re-taking if you feel you're well below the averages. Hi, Thank you for your reply. I have given GMAT the second time, my first score being 590. So retaking GMAT is not under consideration. As far as cross reference is concerned, I have checked the profiles of top IVY schools for MS in Finance. They generally have GMAT score range of around 700-710+ and work experience of appx 12 - 18 months.
I have a lower GMAT, but can the other profile things such as strong work experience, extra curricular, dual degree (CA and Bachelor's), LORs and SOP compensate for a low GMAT? I am worried whether GMAT is a prerequisite or other strong credentials can still stand a good chance for an admit in top schools?
