You definitely have a good profile to apply for MIT program.
Score of 710 would be a bit difficult though..
If possible give a re attempt try 730+

Hi Everyone,

Find below the details.

Career: I have 13 years of work experience in the Information Technology sector (Research and Development).

Schools- One year MBA programs at MIT SLOAN (Fellows), INSEAD, IIM A, IIM B, IIM C and CORNELL.
Intake Year: 2023

Post-MBA Career: Leadership/Strategy roles in the same sector.

GMAT: 710 (Q49, V40, IR 8, AWA- yet to get an official report.)
Bachelors GPA: 3.75/5.
12th Standard: 95%.
10th Standard: 88%.

Years of Work Experience: 13

Location: Bangalore

Notes: I will be applying in Round 2.

Volunteered for various CSR activities.
Got multiple performance awards throughout my career.
Have mentored students from colleges on resume building, communication skills, and mock interviews.
Have mentored junior colleagues and led multiple projects to successful completion.
Played for the state volleyball team.
Have climbed multiple 5500feet peaks.
Pursuing a PG diploma in AI and ML from IIIT Bangalore (Online).

Please give a broad overview of my chances at these schools.
Would my work experience be a negative factor?
Any other schools that I should consider?
Which schools would be aligned with my experience, strengths, and career goals?

Thanks a lot and much appreciated!

kgeorge hope this finds you well

With 13 years of work experience, I am confident you would have compelling instances to demonstrate a growth trajectory and leadership experience. Please note that because you are applying for an MBA at a relatively later stage in your career, the schools will expect you to have a plausible explanation for staying in your current position for so long. You do not want to come across as someone who is merely looking for an exit from your current path where you feel you are unable to hack any growth possibilities. This naturally translates into your requirement to demonstrate a year-on-year growth progression through a variety of abilities and professional experiences accumulated over time.
Demonstrating meticulous research on your career prospect and connecting it to your motivations will take you closer to getting an admit.
I believe you would be an excellent fit for the IIMs. As applicants reach a certain age, INSEAD becomes even more selective. I cannot remark on the strength of your profile since you have not provided much information on the nature of your work and experience. For MIT, you may consider improving your GMAT.

Best wishes

Hi kgeorge,

Thanks for sharing your profile,

First of all, coming to your academics,710 is a decent GMAT score but 3.75/5 falls below average for the GPA. I'd advise expanding on your overall statistics and providing a summary of any additional coursework and certifications you may have obtained to establish your academic skills further.

Regarding your professional background, you have extensive work experience; you will need to demonstrate significant influence on the company and specifically mention instances where you embraced leadership responsibilities and guided your organization through a difficult situation, as it would be a crucial element for your profile. So, I suggest you emphasize your roles and responsibilities, important projects, and your experience with global clients (if you have any international exposure), along with instances where you showed leadership and industry excellence. Furthermore, since you have mentioned receiving performance awards, try elaborating on them. However, I would like to know more about your work experience because it’s important for you to bring out spectacular examples from your experience.

ECs are crucial to your application. However, your ECs seem quite generic. Try emphasizing your work in social causes to demonstrate your social responsibilities. If you only add a little more information about the difficulties encountered, the steps followed, some outstanding leadership examples, new skills learned, and a little about the overall experience, your ECAs might turn out to be your greatest asset. Also, for your reference, I suggest you go through our article on How to draft Exemplary ECAs for MBA Application, to understand the importance of crafting ECAs essays that inspire.!

Answering your questions:

1) Nope, your work experience will not be a negative factor. Adcoms should get the impression that you are a high-performing individual.

2) If you're looking for Executive full-time MBA programs, LBS Sloan, Stanford MSx, MIT Sloan Fellows, and USC Ibear are all excellent choices.

Overall you have a great profile. It's important for applications that you be clear about your post-MBA objectives. Your goals in Leadership/Strategy demonstrate your MBA perspective but seems too general, try linking your goals with the schools you are targeting. Additionally, this will assist you in responding to AdComs' "Why an MBA?" question. All you have to do is match the values of the schools you are targeting with your objectives. Finally, a lot depends upon how you connect the dots and build a great story around it. If you'd like, we'd be happy to get on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your possibilities in more detail and properly address your worries. We'll be pleased to help you and make your profile stand out more. Feel free to submit your profile here for a FREE profile evaluation & to get additional benefits.

Cheers!

Incidentally, the Cornell One year MBA is shutting down from next year onwards. You can still apply to the Cornell Tech MBA (if it aligns with your career goals).
Another program to consider would be the iBear International MBA
