Hey,
I was hoping some one may have some insight on my chances of being accepted to Emory's Goizueta Business School or Georgia Tech's Scheller College of Business. My plan is to apply for the Fall 2020 Evening MBA cohort in round 1.
All information is as of today:
- 27-year-old white male
- Will have 5 years of financial services / accounting experience by Fall 2020, however, my job title is not indicative of my real career progression
- GMAT: 690 (44Q 40V)
- Undergrad: 3.0, BA in Economics, State School in New York (most concerned about this)
- Very involved in community service in large locally known organizations that both universities partnership with
I have attended several information sessions and audited classes. I am hoping that I can outweigh my low GPA with my GMAT score, essays, and resume. For Goizueta, the director of admissions said that 50th percentile is usually their benchmark for the GMAT and that's right where I am at, so I am hoping that is good enough.
Comparing myself to the class profiles for each school, I have a higher than average GMAT but lower than average GPA.
I am wondering if I would be competitive or if I am dreaming. Should I consider a consultant to help perfect my resume and essays?
Thanks in advance!
