Hi
anirchat I work with several experienced candidates for the PGP programs every year, so I am happy to share my insights based on what I have observed. Your diverse work experience, the exposure to multiple organisations, and your ability to articulate how your contributions tie into broader business objectives can absolutely be your strongest assets. But I also acknowledge it is not always as straightforward for the applicants . I have seen some brilliant engineers and accomplished product managers fall short simply because they did not invest enough thought and effort into how they presented their experience, whether in the application, the resume, or the interview.
Without that clarity and intentional storytelling, you risk blending into the crowd as just another engineering applicant, not quite as self-aware or well-researched as the admissions committee hopes you would be. Do this right, and you stand a strong chance at both IIM A and B. If not, then IIM B might still be within reach, but IIM A could be a stretch.
IIM A also places considerable weight on academic strength. So while your NIT background will certainly help, a GPA of 6.4 might not sit too well with them, IIM A particularly. Try to get a strong GMAT score, ideally above 665, which can help you demonstrate your academic readiness.
