Function/Role:
1. 2.5 years as a developer in R&D; development of various B2B products and integrations.
2. Current role: 2 years as a technical consultant for renowned energy efficiency promoting product, implemented solutions for 100+ clients, many of the Fortune 500 ones. Working as a team lead/scrum master and tech lead for various projects.
Work Awards:
-spot award (2020) for mobile app development in R&D
-Engage Excellence award (2022) for mental health and engagement initiatives
-Employee Recognition Award (2022) for successful deliveries of top projects
Years of work experience - 4.5
GMAT/GRE (mention with split) - 660 (V33, Q48) (Not planning to retake)
Target application round - Round 1
Post-MBA role targeted - Marketing in Tech (Strategic/Partnership Marketing) where my communication, collaboration, B2B experience, event-organising and content experience would be an asset. Also open to consumer goods marketing and media.
Short-term goals; To pivot into the marketing sector, Long-term goals - See me as a CMO

Class 10: 10/10 (winner of several merit awards)
Class 12: 97% (college topper, won a gold medal in science olympiad, bronze in the literary fest, gold medal for academic proficiency)

-Internship at the same company I’m currently working in before I joined FT.

Organized and hosted multiple corporate events and employee engagement activities (close to 40, some with 1000+ attendees), and campaigns, garnering org-wide global appreciation.
Diversity ambassadors implementing multiple D&I initiatives for an inclusive workspace.
Features writer (2015- present) for several international websites focusing on pop culture, feminism, representation, etc.
Creating content promoting mental health initiatives in the workplace started during the time of covid.
Elected member of employee club (body of 7000+ employees).
***I don’t have the financial capability to afford an MBA education unless I receive a generous scholarship
Advice/guidance needed:
1. Shortlist colleges as per my post-MBA goals and scholarship factor. I’m open to tier 2/tier 3 if that gives me a better chance of a scholarship. Please suggest which schools would be the right fit.
2. My school list includes Marshall, NYU, Mcdonough, Emory, Rotman, ISB, UCI Paul, and Foster. Please let me know if these are realistic options.
3. What are the things to highlight for impactful essays, and if my post-MBA goal is on the right path (as I am currently taking up managerial duties, my worst case scenario would be to move to product management)

A: If want to increase your chances of scholarship money, you are going to have to drop way down from this list. As noted in the next question, your GMAT score and competitive cohort are going to make things difficult.

A: I believe that several of the schools on your list (Marshall, NYU Stern, Rotman, ISB) are going to be really challenging with your GMAT score, especially V33. Those are competitive programs and you are coming from a popular demographic cohort. I wouldn't necessarily dissuade you from applying to those, but it definitely feels like an uphill battle. Even a school like Foster, which is lower ranked, could be a toss-up. Then, if you want scholarship money, it's going to add another layer of complexity.
3. What are the things to highlight for impactful essays, and if my post-MBA goal is on the right path (as I am currently taking up managerial duties, my worst case scenario would be to move to product management)
A: This is a much more involved conversation than can be achieved in a posting here. We would have to understand your personality and background in more depth to lay out an essay strategy that best highlights what makes you different. Your post-MBA career goal is fine overall - a case can definitely be made based on your current background. Ultimately, it really comes down to how you articualte it all in the essays themselves.
