Hi!
Thank you so much in advance for your help, very much appreciate it. I'm looking for a quick profile evaluation and some advice on a specific question regarding medical leave from college.
Background:
White, US Citizen
Female
26 years old
GMAT:
I have not taken the test yet. I took a practice test with the Economist program without studying to get a baseline and scored a 710 (Q48, V41). I expect to improve this by at least 20 points with some studying if not more. I tend to test well and had a 2380/2400 on the SAT.
Education:
Top 10 US University
Economics & Public Policy (double major)
GPA : 3.0
So I recognize that my GPA is very low. My academic record was very inconsistent, some semesters I did well others I did poorly. I even failed one class due to turning in a term paper a few hours late. That professor is a big advocate of mine though and offered to write me any letters of recommendation I may need in the future. Should I take advantage of this? I had some personal / medical issues during college and ended up taking a year off to resolve them. I finished out strongly after this but there wasn't much time left. Should I address this and if so where? An optional essay? How much detail do I need to give about the circumstances?
Work Experience:
3 years as of date
I work as a project lead consultant at a boutique strategy consultancy with expertise in a scientific area. I started as a contractor and was hired full-time as an analyst and then promoted twice.
Extracurricular:
I've always been involved in dance, from childhood through college, but have not been involved in it in any official capacity since graduation
Target Schools:
I need some help here figuring out if I'm a potentially good candidate at some of these schools. I know my profile has some strengths (likely GMAT, work experience) and weaknesses (GPA, extracurricular).
UVA Darden, Cornell Johnson, UCLA Anderson, Michigan Ross, Columbia, UT Austin McCombs
Thanks!!
