Hi there!
Thanks for sharing your profile with us. It sounds like you've been doing a lot of self reflection about your strengths and weaknesses which is great! That will definitely help you in this process. I'm glad you're trying the GMAT again...don't get me wrong a 710 is a great score but I think your low Quant could be a concern, especially given your liberal arts major and non-Quant heavy work experience.
I think your work experience presents an interesting challenging, but definitely not an insurmountable one. Yes, it's not a typical pre-MBA career and some may not find it super impressive on the surface...but I truly think admissions committees are interested in getting to know you and understand the
quality of your work experience. Your essays are going to be really critical to tell a story about what you've learned from your time in restaurant management and how that relates to your future goals in accounting. Speaking of, what have you done (or could you do) to demonstrate your interest in accounting? There may be steps you can take now (e.g., take a course, take on more financial responsibilities at work, etc.) that will demonstrate you're preparing for that career switch.
But back to your essays...schools will be looking for strong examples of you solving problems, improving processes, analyzing data, managing or mentoring others, working in a team, etc. and I bet you can come up with some examples that fit these qualities. Also see what you can do (most likely on your resume) to demonstrate your business mindset and impact you've had (e.g., can you point to any improvements in the customer experience based on your actions? Or what have you done to advance management practices?).
One other thought -- have you considered doing a part-time program? Often part-time programs (even the ones at very top schools) are less concerned with "prestigious" work experience and GMAT scores tend to be lower too. I assume you're in NY so perhaps check out NYU Stern's part-time option.
Good luck and keep us posted if we can help!
