Hey Experts,
I would really appreciate if you can review my profile and let me know if I should retake the GMAT.
Target Schools:
Dream - INSEAD, LBS, Cambridge, HEC
Realistic - IESE, Mannheim, WHU, IE
Safe - Manchester, Warwick
Profile -
Academics:
- School: 85%+ (almost always among the top 3 in my class)
- Graduation (Engg.): 8.5 CGPA {50% scholarship}
- Post-Graduation - MBA(from one of the top 10 Bschools in India): 3.4 CGPA {Full Scholarship student}
(Studied French for 2 semesters - though not proficient at it anymore but can relearn - had decent grades in this subject)
Work Experience:
- About 2 years experience in a one of the top e-commerce startup in India. (Was among the top performers and worked with some of the leading brands in India)
- About 6 years of ed-tech experience
Add ons
- Part of student body council during my post-grad
- NGO experience of close to 6 months
- Have a few certifications in data science, analytics, finance (Passed with top grades)
- GMAT - 710 (not planning to retake for now - score is 4 years old though - so, should I retake?)
Goal
- Short term goal (Work as Senior Product Manager for a tech firm - looking to gain international perspective and work with people from different backgrounds/culture) - my previous MBA or my jobs have not provided me with learning or perspective - hence the decision of 2nd MBA.
- Long term goal (Interested in using tech and my PM experience to build my own firm - one idea being in edtech focusing more on K12 helping children gain quality ed tech at very low cost across the globe. Though I am open to other options too - fintech (making lending easy for SMEs).. main point is to leverage tech and product experience to create a global impact firm.
- Want to stay in UK/Germany.
On concern regarding my safe and realistic school is post MBA salary. I am already currently close to $50k in India. Most of these school avg around $75K which is making me rethink my decision about my school selection.
I would really appreciate if you can review my profile and let me know if I should retake the GMAT.

Your profile seems great. I don't think you should retake GMAT, it's valid for 5 years, so you will be okay.
One thing though, if you want to work in UK/Germany try aiming for schools' regional to those countries.

First, I would like to say your profile looks quite good on the surface, and having such a huge amount of experience would definitely come in handy. About your GMAT, 710 is a good score, and it would not be necessary to follow a retake as the few difference in scores could be very well settled through stellar leadership examples and technical prowess. Also, apart from your college GPA, I would suggest you and a bit more about your overall statistics during your graduation and try to add any additional courses, certifications, and academic accolades to back your profile.
About your work experience, we would like to know your roles & responsibilities as you’ll need to back them up with substantial examples of leadership, excellence in the field, decision-making, and analytical skills in your long tenure. Moreover, you did switch your lines in e-commerce to working as a product manager in the ed-tech industry; you need to give strong reasons for your decision. For your reference, I suggest you go through our article on How you can justify your career switch to pursue an MBA for a career change!, this would certainly help provide insights and help you incorporate the pros of making a career change into your B-school application! Furthermore, I want you to understand your opinion about EMBA; considering your huge work experience, I would suggest you to once go through our article on Top Executive MBA Programs, These programs are designed especially for creating global leaders by providing a degree and international experience at the same time.
Coming to ECAs, just mentioning NGO experience won't do much good! Try to give a brief account of your contribution, the challenges faced, leadership roles played, the impact generated, and the relevant skills developed through your ECAs so that it doesn't sound just like participation! In addition, you can also talk about any interesting hobbies you have or what you enjoy doing in your free time. All these will help you explore new horizons to start an interesting conversation with the adcom! About your post-MBA goal, the short-term goal seems relevant given your background; however, for your Long term goal, you need to be more sure as adcoms prefer candidates more certain about their goals & vision. Fin-tech and ed-tech are two different industries hence no matter what you choose, it's important for you to make them Collinear by connecting dots with your past experiences!
Overall you do have a well-rounded profile. However, you have to be absolutely clear about why you wanna pursue a second MBA! Furthermore, the choice of schools should be based on more than just salary hikes; it should be about the environment and culture where people with backgrounds like yours could thrive! I believe your huge experience is your strongest asset; be clear on how an MBA from your target school will help you reach your goals & aspirations, and finally, how you can add diversity to the classroom by being a pioneer in the field.
