Hi Jon,

Thanks for your quick reply.About the venture its still in existence and planning to scale up operations after next round of funding start of 2016. I m still part of the company and hold a stake in the company. I started working on it since 2014 September while i was still working in BOA and launched in march I left the company in May. I left the company because the companys vision didnt meet my own vision of helping the underprivileged and it wasnt where i wanted to see myself in 10 years. In Riyadh i was able to find a job that helped me grow as a leader and a company that has allowed me to realize my vision and enhance the social brand of the company.

About the universities i was aiming for, Stanford or Yale as they have an amazing scope for social entrepreneurship and can attract the right investors and find an amazing team.I have scored a little less on the Gmat than expected as I was constantly scoring around 710 in my practice mocks. During the real test i entered the math section 4 mins late due to a misunderstanding with the invigilator(was under the impression she would inform once my 8 min break was over) and only got 47 in math. But at the same time I dont think it is wise to waste a year because staring a company requires a lot of energy and time and I dont think you can be fully prepared to do it unless you start doing it. I have researched a lot about the programs in the above mentioned universities and dont know much about other programs in the US.

I would like to conclude by asking what would your advice be Jon. Will waiting a year and retaking the gmat be worth it or should I apply to some lower ranked universities with a great scope for my kind of vision.I would prefer the US given its population and a good infrastructure to support my business idea.I am open to similar programs in Canada as the gmat median scores for most programs are lesser than that in the US.

Thanks ,
Arjun

Hey Arjun,
Sorry for the slight delay in response here. I've been on the road.

To answer your question, I cant really answer you in terms of where you stand as far as your business goes (that's something you have to decide), but from an admissions perspective, it's far better if you have those 30 points and are preparing really early for R1. So if you have enough to keep you busy for the year, then I'd say do it that way. If it's very advantageous to you to apply now, it's also a real option, but you'd have to hurry up!!!

Best,
Jon
