Thanks, really appreciate your insight! I just scored 710 on GMAT prep, so I'm hoping in one month I can boost my score. Verbal is a breeze for me, just need to improve my Quant (which is strange because I've ALWAYS been better at math throughout high school and college - but I guess law school really improved my reading skills hah). I just started Stanford's essay and it definitely makes you do a bit of soul searching. I think consulting as a post-MBA goal was a bit premature of me to say. I rather stay within the tech industry and either work at a large internet company or venture-backed startup, with the long term goal of founding my own startup. Do you think that's a fair goal? I know entrepreneurship is a common goal right after school, but I much rather work for a company post-MBA and fine tune my skills, before another rodeo. Do you think that would turn off the adcom or is it reasonable? Laying a framework is definitely a reason why I want to go to school.

Thanks again! This is all extremely helpful and I'm thinking about hiring an admission consultant to help me finalize my essays/story (after I get my gmat score).

I think gaining some experience before you go for another rodeo (love it) is a GREAT goal. It higher your potential of success (I mean at getting a job) once you graduate, and leaves you plenty of space to define your dream later on.

One note though: Try and get something more specific than "Do some startup" even if at this point you aren't sure. If you tell them "Oh I have this idea to work on X which will do Y and the reason is Z" Ypu don't have to worry about that till you get the GMAT done, but you can start to think about.

Good luck, and lemme know how things turn out.

Best,
JF
